my brother and i had the sprint set... bent a coathanger into a square, encyclopidia holding it down, and 4 clothes pins to attatch a sheet of toilet paper for the cars to jump through..like the new car adds at the time...... big fun at the time...
maybe gspeedr can recreate such a feat ... on video.... through hot wheels napkins ?

Dear Yankee Doodleists - I have completed the building of a 5.4 metre two lane racing track - complete with starting gate and flagged finish line.

(to save you googling, 5.4 metres is nearly 18 feet. it is three standard 1.8 metre lengths of pine)

The finish line is on a separate length of wood, and is a modified HW part (glue and a sharp knife)

First official races of the Canberra Downhill Diecast Drag Racers will take place on Monday (tomorrow) night at:

Canberra Model Vehicle Collectors Club meeting
Upstairs at the Eastlake Football Club in Kingston.
7.30 PM - Monday 5th March

If you are in Canberra - come along and race your beater hot wheel or matchbox superfast...

Races 1 and 2 will be an International... with visiting US racers 'Blue Spruce' racing some local yokels (thanks to Model40fan).

The successful winner of Race 1 and 2 will face off and the winner from that round will take on the final champion of the evening. If its a visitor, they will get a chance to face off against the loser of the final race. So a chance to come first or second.

Photos and race results to come - check back later in the week!

Au contraire mon frere - both internationals DOMINATED.

i wont give the winner away just yet...

First up the track construction post on my blog:

http://capitaldiecastgarage.blogspot.co ... track.html

I'll post up the race results and pictures in a day or two. The track had a few teething issues, as it had rained solid for 7 days i didnt get a chance to lay it out properly before the first race! And it had a few 'kinks' in it.

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

But it was massive fun - and there will be more racers next month!
