Hot Wheels racing - Canberra, Australia
Im sure there are other Oz based diecast freaks that read this forum - so is anyone in Canberra keen on some Hot Wheels racing ?
Im thinking standard and modified HW cars, a category for MB - even vintage Superfast... down a two lane HW track.
Round Robin style. I might even throw in some prizes for winners. This would be a good way to get kids involved as well.

I'll mail you some racers.
me too!... weight limits ??? is graffite cool ?
Its pretty amusing that ive got three replys here and ZIP NADA ZERO in any of the aus forums ive posted on!
Anyway - ive ordered a 40 foot roll of single track from a guy on ebay. its vintage track, so we will see if its Ok once it arrives. Two 20 foot straight tracks should be fine to start with. I hope it unrolls ok! otherwise im getting the router out and some planks of wood or is that not on?). Im going to try and build a simple non-electronic winners flag.
Thanks for the encouragement as well.
Racing will occur - even if its my own collection racing itself. I know an 8 yr old kid i can rope in. Of course if he beats me...
I'll mail you some racers.
Cool - i'll make sure they are raced fairly. Sort of like when the US sprint car/drag guys do a tour
cool, i guess we are with the US. drag team, no- sprinting here...
A public thank you to Model40fan for sending two cars to compete in the initial race of the Canberra Downhill Diecast Drags (Im still working on a name...).
i will peel off the little American flags and fix them on the cars - a true international race!
Im still waiting on the roll of track i bought from ebay to arrive...
Is it legal to 'roll' down planks of wood ?
brazilian wood, isn't it good... see optimus or rocker 77 for wooden track details... and if any damage,
what's going on down under ?
Track is constructed, i have a 1968 HW start gate, a fairly new HW finish line flag, and am using a 40 ft roll of orange track from the early 70's as the basis for the track. The wood is au naturel right now, but will probably be painted when i'm happy with it. Photos to come...
Test race this weekend - first official race on Monday night.
BTW - you guys should check out this website: http://hotwheelsracetracks.wordpress.com/

So, let me get this strait...some of Smitty's creations will be racing not!!
sinse we're on the straight and narrow, those are not smitty's cars, they are gifts, they can be raced under any flag you choose. [ pirate ]
