How Much Money?

Preacher Monday, 7/2/2012

I'm trying to ride with both feet on the brakes...when it comes to buying more cars. The other day we were going through receipts and to date, I've spent a little over $300 on my collection of 341 cars. The question I keep asking myself, when is enough, enough? My problem is I keep seeing cars that I like...so the question is, how much money have you spent on your collection?

Aww is this a trick question? If it makes you feel better I'm sure I past the 300 mark years ago.

Here is a old list thats shows with in a few days I blew 130 bux Mid year 2002 http://kracon.dyndns.tv/HotWheels/hot%20wheels2.htm

Just this past weak I had a re-laps and bought all these Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

How much is too much when you cant pay your other bills. At the end of the month the bank balance is lower than last months you are spending too much.

Well, I started re-collecting probably 10 years ago but didn't start really looking for cars until I started this web site almost 3 years ago. And to my best guess, I have somewhere around 1000 cars and since I try my best not to spend more than $1 per car, I have about $1000 invested in cars alone. But that's over several years...although mostly the past few.

How much is too much...? At a dollar a car, I consider there to be no such thing as too much. For me it's all about how much you spend at a time. If you go out and drop $300 in one shopping session, that's a lot. A shopping spree for me is dropping $20 on cars in a day, which gets me 20 cars. But then I'm usually good for a while. I'm not out constantly cruising for cars like some of y'all are. I just look for cars I don't have so I can race them...I don't really chase down variants or specific year models or anything.

Dealing with Hot Wheels is by far the least expensive hobby I've fallen into and I'm thankful for that...as is my wife. In a previous life I "collected" and built computers plus video games, and let me tell you *that* was an expensive hobby.

I went nuts in the late 90's when I thought you had to get every colletor number. Screw that! I snapped out of that and had to stop buying cars.

Since then I would at random just grab a few cars on the pegs if I liked the cars.

Computers? my first was also from Mettel.

Commodor 64
Commodor 128

Sorry if it came across that way...my bad. I was primary just wanting to know what others had spent on their collection...kinda thought it might be a good topic of conversation. But I totally agree with your statement!

Ya came accross just fine, some of us not only can't let go, we can't (or wont) stop. Remember "Growing older is manditory, Growing up is optional". For 52 years, and I'm 57 now, I have gotten pleasure and fun outta those little cars. Matchbox, Hot Wheels, Johnny Lighting, Dinky, Husky, and so on. I don't see myself stopping real soon. As for how much money?...???????????? Bookoo bucks!...........Kory aka "Nightstalker"
