League of Speed - A Year in Review

LeagueofSpeed Monday, 1/1/2018

Wow, what a quick year it was....and a lot of fun!!! As of last December 2016 I had only a desire to be racing more and had no idea how to make that happen. There was no local clubs to join around my neck of the woods and outside my girls...Lady of Speed, Speed Force, Team Quicksilver...my Brother in Law...Outlaw Racing ( who would want to race when he was up from Charlotte) and my Brother from another Mother...1/4 Mile Club...there was no where for me to take my toys and play :) So, I started searching around on the net and found CC Riders site...racehotwheels.com and was checking out what he had going on....and saw the "mail-in racing" thing. I missed his first one in Jan 2017...the Drag-n-Fly, but made the Hollywood Road Race (the track that inspired Bootleg Run). Also, in January while on his site, I saw a link to a place called Redline Derby...clicked on it on...and the rest is history. I had slightly gleaned the concept of modding on CC Riders site, but I was really enlightened and intrigued by the past articles and self help videos by people like Traction Event, Chevy C10 and RLD...so I drilled my first rivets on the 67 Mustang Fastback from FnF Tokyo Drift...and was hooked...but very, very raw. Then came the desire to build some tracks....but different tracks respectively in Tobacco Road and Bootleg Run, were formulated, planned and built....and it was a blast!!! I hosted my first mail-in race on Memorial Day weekend 2017...Legends of Tobacco Road-The Funny Cars...and again, so much fun ( and made easy by my Daughter Speed Force's ability with and Ipad and youtube). Then came the more serious undertaking of a two lane road course called Bootleg Run....which while more challenging was still a lot of fun to plan and build. Then came Bootleg Run-The Hot Rods, perhaps the biggest mail-in race of 2017....and aside from technical difficulties an absolute blast to host. All the while I kept plugging away at the modding, racing out in Southern Utah with CC Rider and his crew( who put on a great racing schedule in 2017...kudos and much appreciated my Brother) and at C10's and GTAMans tracks....Redline Revival 2, Evening with the Gov'ner, Car Culture Series Race at GTAMan's...Dragging Wagons, Pony Wars 2, Muscle Trucks and Flying Colors at C10's....thanks guys!!!! Then my pride and joy of the year...Legends of Tobacco Road-American Muscle...that was a great event to host, to race in and produce....thanks to all who made it happen. In closing, it's been a great experience for me finding this place and the people who reside within....looking forward to another great year of racing in 2018...Peace my Brothers in Speed - League of Speed.

I'm glad you discovered RLD...and we're inspired to start modding! It really is a fun sport...and RLD is a great community...and the racing is real (only A LOT cheaper than the real stuff!).

I'm glad to be back racing again. I enjoy the challenge of trying to build a cool looking car that is also fast. And, I like to try to do things that anybody can do. I have access to a full machine shop, so I could go kinda crazy if I wanted to. But, to me, it's fun working with the simplest tools and trying to get the best performance I can.

I've got some pretty crazy ideas about some open class 'time attack' vehicles...which you'll be seeing in 2018. But, building, cool fast cars...that were a part of my childhood. ..is really cool!

I'd love to get some people back involved that used to race on here...Smitty is the first that comes to mind...JDC is another...and there are many more. But, with new racers like LoS and Mopar Mafia coming in, I hope the racing will continue!

See ya in Lane 2!

Looking back I Modified 43 cars total in 2017...and you do really learn as you go along in this hobby. I can say with confidence that I'm better than when I started and I enjoy it more than I thought I would...much more actually. Thanks again for the insights and here's to thinking more out of the box in 2018 and modifying out of my comfort zone in the search for Speed.

...see ya in the Fast Lane!!!
