links

Hey there,
The 'Fantasy' link on the main page is broken. It takes me forever to click around to get to my garage and the stats. Today, I took ten minutes and I never found it. How do we get to the stats and such?

Not sure what fantasy league link you're talking about, but everything is working fine for me.

Some other people have reported clicking the "Fantasy League" link from the main RedlineDerby.com page doesn't load, but for the life of me I cannot duplicate the problem. Even on different computers and browsers.

I'm wondering if it's being blocked by some sort of toolbar or something because of the word "fantasy" in the web address. I honestly don't know and wish I could help troubleshoot.

Click the "Fantasy League" link at the tippy top of the forum here and see if that one gives you the same result.
Sorry for the trouble...

To get to your garage, just click the "Your Garage" link in the main menu after you login. It's yellow next to the dashboard link.

Stats for cars can be found in "The Lot", also in the main menu. Just search for the car you want...also, most car images link to their stat profile. My apologies if it was confusing to find. I'll try to reduce some clutter to make it easier.

Thanks for the reply. There is some bug in the system because I repeatedly try the 'fantasy' link and this is what I get:

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

That image is from this morning after your reply. This is even after I am logged in.
Finally, after the fourth or fifth try, I get the correct page.

Notice in BOTH pics that the URL is exactly the same.

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

The fact that you got in eventually makes it even more bizarre. When you got the error was it a time out error or was it immediate? Sometimes my servers can be a bit slow to respond, but still...

I assume you can get around the RDR site just fine otherwise...you're obviously making it to the forums. Can you click a few stories or pages from the RDR main blog and confirm those are working for you? I'm expecting those will load fine while the "fantasy" URL still poops out. Gggrrrr...

I'll keep trying to get the same error and maybe try a few tests otherwise.
Thanks for the screen shots and info, it all will help get there eventually.

The error is not a time out error. I can click refresh and get it again. I cleared all my cookies and such last night so there would not be any stored webpage errors. I click on all of your articles and they always, ALWAYS, come up correctly and immediately. That's why I get so frustrated that I can't find the actual Fantasy League part.

By the way, somebody posted the link over at Joes Diecast Shack a couple months ago. It was the same link and others got the same error.

The reason that I am letting you know is that there is definitely a problem and you don't want to lose people that come to your website. It's hard enough to get them there in the first place!

I was having an issue getting into the fantasy league site from my girlfriend's computer because I was trying to access it logged on as a guest user. I figured out that I can only access the fantasy league from her log in. May be a parental protection thing because of the word 'fantasy', who knows?

I found that if I keep refreshing the link (F5), the page eventually comes up.
This is not good news for new visitors to the website. Why it is happening
is beyond me.

Yeah, I don't think it's a site problem because I've never had an issue getting to it and he's having a hard time duplicating it. It might just be a combination of things that were not thinking about. Maybe specific to internet browser (internet explorer, firefox, etc.) or internet service provider (AT&T, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, etc.). Do you have this problem with any other websites?

No, no similar problems with any other website. Firefox is my favorite browser but for the last few weeks, it wouldn't load for some reason so I have been using Internet Explorer (as you can tell by my screen shots.) My recent problems were all with IE.

I just got Firefox to load again so I will be going back to using Firefox exclusively. The Fantasy League opened on the first try but it pauses for some reason like it is loading or checking something. I will try the link again later.

Maybe that's it then. I only use IE when I have to, so I've only used FireFox to get to the league and I've never had any issues. Yeah, there may be a slight delay sometimes, but it's probably just trying to load everything.

When I tried to get to the Fantasy League with IE through the forum's link it loaded, but with errors. Error message is below.

Ah foobar...I f'n hate Internet Explorer. Yeah, I'm a FF guy and I have a really bad habit of not doing much testing with IE. I wouldn't doubt that the site has some issues with IE. I'll take a look at it tonight when I seed Sunday's race.

Thanks for that error snapshot. Looks like the Google embed is wonky.

I was only using IE because my Firefox wouldn't load. I'm glad that whatever was happening with my Firefox has worked itself out because I can't stand IE!
