Anyone familiar with the ARC class of 1/64th scale Lionel diecast cars?

My wife's company is sponsoring this car for the 2026 season (race?) and I would like to get 2 of them.  One for the display and one for modifying for the track.  But from what I am reading, these come with rubber wheels for which may not be allowed on some tracks as is.  Changing the wheels should be easy enough if they are the same size as a Hot Wheels car.  The bottom of the car looks like rivets so it can be opened.

Do you know if the ARC series has plastic wheels or rubber?

Lionel Racing also announced from what I read that they are introducing a new series GOLD.  This is supposed to be a metal chassia and a metal body.  Unknown what tires will be on it when it is available, nor what cars will be made.  Unclear also if it will be 1/64th scale.

Just keeping my eye on it for now.  I am thinking of pre-ordering two of these next week after I ponder the cost of $11.75 each.

Suppposedly they sell the ARC series also at the Walmart, Target, & other retail stores.  When I hear they have been released, I will try to find the retail version at my local Wally World.

Any opinions on these cars made by Lionel Racing?

Yikes. $11.75 a car??  The detail better be worth it, but modding for racing? Probably not.

  • I was thinking the same. Leaning towards just awaiting for the major retailers to get the generic versions in the stores and try my luck that way. We go to the big city about once a month where they have the Targets, Fred Meyers, etc.... So I will probably wait so I can pay a few dollars at most for this type of car. I told my wife to look out for any announcements in her corporate news feed about anything related. — RacerGnome
