Loop back track

Got an open track submission from player Nightstalker in New Jersey and thought "loop back" on his big track looked awesome. I know it's something we've talked and seen about before, but this is a great shot. Just a good looking track to boot.

Great idea, minimizes physical effort when you're 'solo' at the track...which is important to super heavy mods.

LOVE THAT PIC.
i did that for a while with a johnnie lightning datona 500 SIDE BY SIDE 180 degree turn [true 90 degrees to the floor] the cars that could DO IT were so cool, like racing they returned slowly to the starting line for all to check out... BUT the cars that went best on the straights didn't always make the turn.... BENT AXLE BLUES and yes, i did it so i wouldn't have to go fetch...

That is quite a plummet down to a hard angle for the straight away. I can't.imagine racers with low profile front ends not being affected.

I tired this myself with some of the original hard plastic 180's from the late 60's...cars tended to fly off.
I just bought some original dual lane 180's but was really disappointed with the connectors not lining up well.

I like the idea but have yet to come up with a good solution

Good looking track, and yes what a transition!

I think the trick is having some stretch *before* the curve so there is some slowdown time before it hits the 180. But I like that if the return stretch is long enough you don't even need a catch box.

The Redline Derby track prior to Season 6 had a pretty hard transition like that, which did effect the low clearance cars, but more so just the cars that were heavy because all the energy hits the switch and just bounced right out. I had to lower the angle and add a kicker to keep things more consistent...there are very few cars that scrape now.

Since that picture was taken, I have made small lift spacers that fit under the orange track, now the transition isn't as violent. You can adjust the transaction by sliding the lifts up or down the track length. Also I do have lifts for raising the straightaway not in this pic.

DITTO ON THE LENGTH OF TRACK AFTER THE FINISH LINE...WE ALSO HAD TO RAISE THE U TURN SECTION OF THE TRACK ABOUT 3", THIS SLOWED THE CARS BEFORE THE TURN BUT LEFT THE CARS ENOUGH DOWNHILL MOMENTUM TO FINISH ON THE RETURN LANE...

I also have the smaller 10' track I submitted for the Derby using the same starting gate and Judge finish line. I would post a pic but cannot figure how!!!lol.....Kory...Nightstalker.
