Modding a Skull Shaker...

Ljlrc is having an 'fenderless' race next month...so, I thought I'd put something together for it. The tricky parts of the rules for this race are...must use original wheels, and 45 grams.

So, I figured I would use a Skull Shake due to the lack of fenders and it makes the weight with room to spare...but, I've always thought they were kinda silly looking. I don't like the skull grill and I don't really like the open roof either.

It turns out that I'm using the chassis from the '32 Delivery for the D150 that I'm building. So, I'm going to hack the body up and see if I can get the Skull Shaker a little cooler looking...well, cooler looking to me, at least :)

With some patience, an a cut-off wheel in the dremel, I have the pieces I need to make the changes to the Skull Shaker...or maybe, I should just call it the Shaker now that I'm getting rid of the skulls.

I'll probably strip the paint off next, so I can see the lines a little better. Then, I'll be spending a bunch of time with a little file and a lot of JB weld

I opted to not strip the paint...I just started filing, grindING and filing more. I have the parts ready to JB weld them on. Then, guess what...more filing :)

It's too dark to see the detail very well...I knew I should have stripped the paint...but, I'm pretty happy with the way the body is fitting together.

I'll let it sit until tomorrow night before I start shaping the seams. And, I'll be adding more JB weld and doing more shaping the next night...it's a kinda slow process.

I'll have to either alter the chassis or just let the body sit a little higher than the original body did...the hood sides hit the chassis. But, I'll sort that out later.

I think this is looking a lot cooler than the original Shaker...I still have to fit some weight in there and throw some paint on it, but, I like how it looks...so far
