Modding made easy - Turbo Wheels Diecast Racers (?)
These are interesting. How about a cheapo diecast that's held together with screws, has easily replaceable axles pinched between the body and chassis so they pop right in/out, and in place of an interior a metal weight with plenty of space to add much more if you want? Well, that's a Turbo Wheels "diecast racer".
After seeing them at one of the Dollar mini-malls and being intrigued by the packaging and not afraid to spend $1.25 on probable junk I went all in and bought 3 packs. After ripping one of the packs and checking out the car I was disappointed to see it was a plastic body/chassis combo and wondered where's the metal? After taking the body/chassis apart I laughed out loud when a small metal block fell out. Looking a little closer I thought 'well heck, with no interior and a flat chassis there is plenty of room for weighting this car"' Toss the junk axles/wheels for a prepped set, screw it back together and in less time than it takes to drill a pair of posts I could possibly have a contender.
The car weight on this one checked in at 27g and I was able to jam enough lead wheel weights under the body to get it to 55g with hardly any effort. Spend a little time fitting weights I could see this thing hitting 75g.
Am I crazy?

Unexpected that these are assembled with screws, that simplifies the process a bit!
Speed is where you find it, even outside of Mattel product, and you're not the first I've seen to explore the possibilities within this dollar store brand. How do the axle widths and wheel sizes compare to Hot Wheels?
A word of advice, if you encounter the Circuit Samurai brand, keep walking! Stock weight is under 20g and the construction quality is laughable throughout.

Yes, you're crazy. Looks kinda fun, though--I may have to get a few of these next time I'm at the dolla-ana-quarta store.
