Need help testing web app features on phones

I'm looking for a few members that help be test/debug a phone web app feature here on the website. If you regularly visit RLD on your phone and are somewhat savvy with your phone features, I'm looking at you!

I'm very much in need of people with Android phones, but I need to test more iPhones too all are welcome to help - the more the merrier!

If you're interested, comment below with the make/model of your phone and I'll PM you with details and links. I may not contact everyone that comments, no disrespect.

What's this all about?

I'm trying to see if I can make phone notifications work with the website without needing an app. Imagine something like this...

I got a lot of feedback from folks asking about notifications so people can get little badges, beeps, and boops on their phone when things like PMs and race sign-ups are posted.

I'm not in the business of making a full blown app that you download from the store, but you can add features to a website that make it behave like an app, even though it's not. That's what I'm seeing if I can do and have happen reliably.

If testing works, having notifications for RLD when stuff happens is within the realm of possibility in the very near future. I'm just laying pipe right now to test the waters.

This may completely fail and go off the rails...and that's okay. Nothing ventured, nothing gained at this point, but I can only do so much testing on my own.

Appreciate everyone that cares to help. This is for RLD members only, thanks.

I'm happy to help, if I can. Motorola G62 (Android).

UK based, if that'll have any bearing on accessibility etc.

  • Replying to myself, to confirm that the "Enable Notifications" button prompt functioned correctly. However, the "Send test notification" prompt only worked on the second time of asking (yes, I know the instructions said to only press it once, but I like to live dangerously!). So TLDR, I believe everything works for me. Thanks! — H3zzard
