World Famous Julieannie, that one took me a couple minutes. Good one.

Here's the sketch for the garage and finishing line. Can't wait to start building but there is enough prepping to do.

Really curious how you're going to piece it all together. Starting with a premise (mine was the railroad crossing) and molding a track around it is wonderful.

As a fellow first timer, the thing that has been reinforced to me is improvising as things don't quite go as planned. It's not just the repeat tests on the racing but also adapting the diorama.

For example, I initially wanted to have a cornfield on the back half of my diorama, nestled above my town. But, given the hill country and rockiness of the diorama, I am switching gears to a small cattle/horse farm and an apple orchard.

  • Like Mike Tyson said " Everyones got a plan until you get punched in the face. I am looking at the build Like a dresser with the first drawer closed and then the following drawers come out a little longer than the first. The bottom is where I know I want my garages and the Finishing line and a beach area. No Resin pouring, way too much and would make it too heavy. No steep take off, maybe a 10 inch decline on each level. 4x7 base. Nothing crazy on the track, very simple turns. I like Race and Fun, he has long ass tracks but low inclines and the important thing is his cars finish. so very simple track here. I have a small cardboard mock up I will post soon. Have you looked at Chandwell on YouTube he does a lot with forced perspective. Take a look. — LordSyosset
  • Here's the Cardboard mock up I did when I first started and some of the pit stop area. Two days of painting. All of my builds have magnets holding them together. These are life savers. — LordSyosset

TO THE BATCAVE OLD CHUM!

While waiting for new paints (more on that later) I took a break from the figures and started on another diorama. These are basically going to be filler instead of just a mountain side. Think pirates of the carribean, there will be Indiana Jones finding a skeleton of a dinosaur, a ufo crash site with Mulder and Sculley and I found an FBI bomb truck. So there was one that will be the Batcave. Which one? All of them. The 66 set piece everyone remembers as a kid. Then there's the modern Nolan piece that holds the suit and has the metal foors and all. And what I thought was the greatest interpetation of Batman, the animated series. I took the batcomputer from there. (RIP Kevin Conroy.)

I will have the giant penny and maybe the joker card. I still need to design the hanger for the tv copter and I got THE BAT.

Now about paints. STAY AWAY from ARTIST'S LOFT or SHUTTLE ART BRANDS. Absolute shit. Save your money. I just got ARMY PAINTER SPEED PAINT. 1 coat. The other brands 5. 5 damn coats, I could've painted 4 more figures in that time. I took the advice of Wyloch's armory.

The Cave. Part B. Hopefully it will be finished by the end of this week. Lighting it and the ceiling and then the front. Magnets to hold the front and ceiling and then lighting and battery hidden in the back. Set background pieces held on by magnets. A shoebox diorama that will fit under the first right turn at the top. (see cardboard diagram back a few posts) to the left of this diorama will be the old tv entrance.

I did pick up a BAT recently (cheap) and a tumbler, Bane's.

Thank you guys for the comments. I could use help on lighting. That's next. This could all burn down. I use a lot of techniques from different modelers. I can't wait to start the skeleton of the track. Has anyone tried this double sided thick tape, Alien Tape? I am going to use that to hold the orange track onto the wood. It works great for laying out tracks.  I could also give a list of diorama guys if anyone is interested.  And now when we last left our caped crusaders......

FIRE SALE!!!

Greetings, not much of an update to my track, as it is I might lose everything. So all the work to my track so far is going to be left behind if we get the word to evacuate. I will take all the figures I have painted up. No way I am going to lose all that work. I did one more build of my boxing ring this past week. I'll get photos up soon. This year I was going to start the skeleton. The main thing is our safety. It's been great talking to everybody and getting tips on my builds. Good night gang and God speed....especially when your racing against R-Lo. The man is fast!
