One Lane Faster Than the Other

Preacher Sunday, 11/4/2012

It seems on my track I have this problem with one lane being faster than the other. I've tried to make sure the track is as straight as possible, and make sure both lanes are equally spaced, but one lane seems always just a little bit faster...anyone else here have this problem, or is it just me?

I don't think there's any way to avoid that. There's just too many factors in play. I try my best to "calibrate" my track each time I put it up by racing the same cars every time and making adjustments as needed to get them as fair as possible. Most of the time the cause of my lane problems are the transition and how left/right the hill sits compared to the rest of the track - it's not just the straightness of the whole track. In the end I just have to get things as close as possible and accept it.

I always get frustrated but then kind of take what Carl said and just go with it - "just like real racing" - even more so since my track is segments and even if the hill was a straight as can be, how the cars bump into the track joints and rub will make it seem like one lane is worse than the other. That's why I alternate lanes and in many ways, that's some fun in the game, knowing the tracks and being any to better guess based on history.

If your track is strait and the angle transition is equal in both lanes, check to see both lanes are equally level throughout the entire length of the coarse. Cars will typically run against the side rail and slow down on an un-level track surface.

I used to get really frustrated with this problem (and still do) but I think i've mostly removed the issue by buying new track. My old track wasn't very straight but the newer stuff I bought is great. Haven't had any serious issues since!

keeping the track level is big...i bought a $1 carpenters square, plastic, i took the level off from it, keep it with my track.
