You can get a lot of carded cars in these drawers.   Harbor Freight.

The clear plastic trays look so flimsy in all the photos, reminds me of those inside 20-car gift packs. The ones designed to hold carded cars with so much open space appear less sturdy. I question the longevity of the material if the room climate isn't very controlled

Yikes, reading over the instructions and how they describe the materials!! A simple metal frame supports the very top, the shell that hangs down from the frame is all fabric. I assume there's some reinforced side ribbing in the fabric for the shelves to slide in and out upon

No matter if we're loose or carded collectors, storage is the constant question to answer

Going from the pictures on the site,  it looks like plastic trays cookies or the like are packaged in,  and the fabric shelf looks like something from temu.

Could be great storage for someone,  but needs further information.  Maybe the video gives a better impression. 

So the product you linked is mostly just the trays, huh? The big container just looks like fabric like a shoe holder (which is not a bad idea) but my gut says it won't be very sturdy. 

But I guess it really depends what your goal is with it...is it just archival storage? Will you be taking cars out of it often? 

I did similar to what Doc did, just got some peg board but then I got the hangers from Home Depot so I could put many on a peg...just like in the stores. It wasn't big enough for all my cards but a good chunk and it got attention when people visited, which was always fun.

Although now, most of my cards have ended up in a classic tote for basement storage. I've whittled my collection down a lot since I don't really mod much anymore. All my loose cars from the racing days are in jammers...so many jammers...

If you don't want to keep them in the packages, I've found five-gallon buckets work well for storing cars. Easily movable and stackable, not too heavy, and you can generally stack them five high.

I'm on Bucket #27.

Flimsy was the word I was looking for.  Somehow I just didn't see the strength either.  But like another put it, how often do you pull them out?  I did buy a little brief case type container with elastic to hold each car in a spot, and it holds about 108 cars I think when they are unpackaged.  I am going to use this for cars I take out of the package.

I think my goal here is: Look up in my spreadsheet for XX car for an upcoming race to see if I have one.  If so, where did I put it? :-)  So for me, it is being able to locate a car in the collection without opening each box and/or each tote until I find it.  I could add a column in my spreadsheet for Tote #1, or Box #3, etc...  But I think I would rather, for me, put in Drawer 5, or the car is in drawer 8.

So far, I am leaning towards pegboard with 12" pegs.  This would allow about 5 cars per peg.  I have bought the sleeves that hold 7-10 cars and am reviewing those, as a package of them are like $15 and you get a few sleeves which can effectively hold about 70-100 cars for $15.  They can be mounted to the wall or hung from the wall loose.  Which is another reason I am looking at any options for value.

So with the sleeves, I am at about $100 to get all of them in sleeves of 7-10 cars per sleeve, and then wall space to hang them on.  With this unit that this company is selling, you can get that same count of cars for $129 (plus s/h out of california), and it is shorter height since they layy down, and I have space coming away from the wall a couple of feet, as opposed to dedicated wall space.

The ups and downs of decisions.  My next step is to write them an e-mail today about their product.

MamaGnome suggested I buy some small little containers from Hobby Lobby and  put similar cars together in them.  Then label them appropriately like Muscle, Dragsters, Funny Cars, Trucks, IMSA/GT, Nascar, etc...  Then put those conainers in the rubbermaid totes for storage.  When I need a certain car, my spreadsheet can say Tote #2, in the Muscle Car container.

Is it me?  Am I just too organized?  I am retired, home all day, nothing else to do, so I have too much time on my hands sometimes. :-)

Update this morning on 10/26/25.  I wrote the guy, and he wrote back!

I mentioned to him and said that these units he developed are nice, and does he offer a discount if someone was to give an honest review of the product.  He has agreed for me to get a discount on a unit, and I will do an un-boxing, put it together, and mount it.  I will then start putting my cars in it, test the unit's stability, ease of use, and organizational compartments it offers.

When I finish testing the unit, I will write up an article, and post it here for everyone to see.

BTW, I did mention to him that I am not a YouTube sensation or influencer, just a 62 year old man who has a hobby that could use his product, and that I think others would be wondering how well it can serve it's purpose for them.  Thus, an article showing the full process may be useful to collectors, racers, and die cast enthusiasts.  If others like it, it would lead to more sales for his products.  He can use my article on his web site as a testimonial, good or bad?  

So I ordered it today, should be here in a week or so, and then it just so happens that I made a decision this morning to have a contractor come out and remodel my old workshop out front, and to install a new porch/deck on the front of my house.  This means I will be spending more time in the dining room at the table and I can organize my cars to go in the new system.

I will keep you abreast and expect to have an article written shortly after Thanksgiving.

I use Plano 5324-30 cases for my loose cars.  They hang on the wall well or stack on a shelf.   

Dude, now I'm getting those ads all over my feeds! Sigh
