Pilot Episode - Update

DiecastRacingNews Tuesday, 7/15/2025

Good Morning Everyone,

Lovely sunny day here in the U.K.

The pilot episode for Diecast Racing News is coming along a treat.

However, I am going back in the studio to do some further edits. The reason for this was because at the start of the week I had about 3 or 4 channels happy for me to use content and for this reason I was able to give each one around 3-5 minutes each on their segments.

Then, I started to get other enquiries/contact and once I put the first draft together the pilot episode was around 20-25 minutes long which I don't think is in the viewer "sweet-spot".

Therefore, I am going back in the studio today and tomorrow (work permitting) and I am going to do some editing to bring that pilot episode down to around 15 minutes.

Moving forward that is my aim, maybe to give each league/tournament anything from a 30 second snap shot to a 1-2 minute round-up depending on the amount of content I have and/or what is going on that particular week.

It is coming, but I just want to make the first episode a good watch and not to let any of you wonderful people down.

HUGE thanks to Dr Dodge and Dutch Clutch for the "Diecast Racing News" vans which are now stationed at their circuits, that is such an amazing gesture and another reason I don't want to let anybody down with bad content.

Written content has always been my area of expertise, the "presenting" or announcing side is something I have had a little dabble with, but still a new area so I appreciate all the advice and feedback that is coming my way.

Thanks

Simmo

The show is evolving before your eyes.....that's the news business in action.

Not to be trite, "it's about finding that balance."

A crafted 3 minute spot can hold so much good in it, however a string of one minute glances at three channels can perhaps overwhelm the viewer. I feel our demographics skew older and aren't influenced so much by quick succession consumption of content

If you have a solid half hour built up for a pilot show, maybe make two episodes from it? Something digestible for a fan watching on their 15 minute break at work?

Just ideas for you, over the first coffee of the day!

Those are great points Chris, and I do feel that Simmo will eventuallly trim things down to 5 - 10min as he gets feedback on what's of interest. On the flip side I think this pilot/premier should go a bit long so Simmo can present a nice picture of what's going on at RLD and allow him to try some various things out. Splitting that initial broadcast into two is a good option.

The news van is a good idea! I may repaint one of my Track Officials' vans as a Diecast Racing News Van starting with the Indy 400!

Going to make one for my track too...it is a build in progress.

That is a great idea, I just found a news van last week...
