Race and smash
I thought of this after seeing K & O ask Smitty to take a hammer to his robber car if it doesn't perform (he was kidding I hope). This would be sometime next year, and obviously a one host race (me). Everyone sends in two carded stockers. Single elimination. When you lose you're eliminated. With a hammer. Last one standing is the winner and gets the pile of hammered cars to start a salvage yard diorama. The local HW club used to run a race with a hammer being used but I don't know the details but I was told the guys there loved it. Just a crazy but possible fun idea. Thoughts?

Some food for thought.
Ford guys send in a Chevy hoping it will lose and Chevy guys send a Ford! Or we make this The Peg Warmer Challenge. Send in two peg warmers you're tired of seeing hanging in the store and if you're lucky they'll lose.
- I've heard of "hammer races" I think they would be more fun in person...but we'll see how this develops. — Traction-Event
- I agree...it would be more fun to smash them in person...but I could send some slow Mustangs so Bill would have to smash them! :) — 72_Chevy_C10
- That's just plain cruel Chris! — Dadvball
- :) I'm sure you probably have some old Chevys that would go under the hammer, Bill! — 72_Chevy_C10
That's one reason it would be a while. I need to learn how to video tape and post with my camera or phone so I could post the results.
- get creative with each destruction...vise, cinder block, run over with real car, wd-40 and match...etc — Traction-Event
- I am not that into this, but i have 72' of steel track, lighter fluid, a match and gravity... "HELL'S HIGHWAY" — model40fan
- te, if you want and can video, i'll ship you a couple 6' sections, LMK. — model40fan
- True trial by fire Smitty.Cant imagine the conversation with my neighbors..ha. I'd hate to see good cars get ruined just because, but.... — Traction-Event
Putting this on the back burner. Too much good racing going on now and in the near future so there's no hurry for this.
So, after hearing about what the custom guys have done at the Nats, I'm putting together a similar race at the Maryland Die-Cast trade Show in December. The Death Race at the Nats is for custom builders to bring one of there creations to the event... it's not a race, but a vote... I believe it's a bracket style form, but if you lose the vote count to a creation in your bracket, your creation gets smashed. I want to do that with a race!!!! So, bring on the Death Race... I love this idea!!!
What???!!! That's crazy, I'm in!
