We need some ideas for new races, so I thought I would start a thread and get some input from all of you. Please feel free to add to this listing.

1, Skirts, Leadsleds, and Tail Draggers: lowrider event. All wheels tucked inside body, rear wheels covered if possible. How low can you go?

2. Rig Race: If ir's a big rig, it's in. Two and three axles welcome. Bonus points for trailers (with possible exhibition run, full truck and trailer.)

3. Food Fight: All the goofy fantasy food vehicles.

4. Stampede! : Animal and dinosaur cars.

5. Junkers: Your car has to look like a junkyard reject (similar to Monster Motorsports' Scrapper Showdown.)

6, Backing Down: All available cars, but run BACKWARDS down the track.

7. Run What Ya Brung: open season on whatever you want to send, fantasy or not.

8. LeMons: You got pegwarmers in your area? What are they? Want to race them?

9. Mad Max series: Cars and guns. What could go wrong?

10. Movie Mayhem: Movie and TV cars, including specialty character cars.

11. Short Stuff: All those goofy tooned cars (but this time all of them, including different wheel sizes).

12. Rubber Duckie Rampage: Yup, racing ducks. Car would be the Duck-N-Go.

13. Service Vehicle Showdown: Busses, towtrucks, utility trucks, delivery vehicles, police and fire vehicles, road graders, bulldozers  ... whatever it is, bring it on.

14. Longroofs:  Got a station wagon? You're in!

15. Grocery Getters: Racing shopping carts, must have rider.

16. Draggin Wagons: Yup, the Radio Flyer wagons. Must have driver.

KEEP IT GOING !!

I've thought of the food fight, I've seen the longroof. I like the cop car idea. Good list, thanks.

  • My entry for Bull of the Woods was the police car. — SpyDude
  • Funny, I thought of the Food fight as well! — ManiacMotorsports

Pooper Bowl- 32 NFL team themed entry tournament, but the only castings allowed are the Hot Seat, Poop King or Gotta Go/#2(or another scatalogical casting I'm not aware of)

Woodies Roundup- Any station wagon casting, so long as its an actual woody type or has the faux woodgrain down the sides

Second Gen Star Power- Hollywood loves them some '68-'70 Chargers and '70-'81 Firebirds...Who's star shines the brightest?

I did the foodie fight a couple of months ago, admittedly I think it was 6 and down a rough drag strip.be cool to see them on open track with a bigger field of entrants.

I was actually thinking about peg warmers as well.

How about any car that wouldn't fit down normal single lane track like the Volvo xc90 I think it is but have wheels changer to whichever you want as long as it fits and rolls of course...

Old school: any casting made/dated before 1980

Old skool: school busses.

More to come.

  • Would that be any actually made pre 1980 or designed pre 1980 but still being actuallymade after 1980 — RalphsRacers
  • I'm thinking made pre 1980 — Sunshine_City_Garage
  • Jungle Falls Raceway recently did a 'Beautiful Busses And Trains' tourney. It was about half-and-half between bus castings and train castings. I was 2nd place on that one (look in past events on calendar.) — SpyDude

Halloween race

Astro Funk vs Fangula

Sci Fi vs Horror

Race them at 50g and keep the skinnys up front and keep the same size for the back but Builders choice there.

  • I have a couple of the Fangula's, and actually sent one to an open wheel/big engines race a while back.... did pretty well. I haven't seen the Astro Funk, or I'd have gotten it by now. — SpyDude

I've got matchups galore running through my head, so great thread.

Hi Roller 2 vs CCM

  • That is very similar — RalphsRacers
  • CCM was supposedly based off a '60's Olds Toronado. — SpyDude

Back To The Basics.     Original BW basic wheel wheels only.

Yinz guys got some groovy Ideas! I will revisit these when and if my Dragons Run /Dragons Trip coalesces into this Diecasters timeline in Reel Life!????

Until then , I only have a few additional suggestions:

*Majority Rules- Only Majorette castings !

* Burning Rubber- Real Riders Rampage

* No Mainstreams - (Hot wheels, Matchbox, Johnny Lightning, Majorettes NOT Invited)

*Premium Brands - MSRP $7.00 &Up

*Carded Chaos - unopened stock mainlines cracked and tracked by random selection methods like coin flips, Card Draws, or my favorite: The Casting  of Dice! Preferably the 20 sided Dodecahedron kind ;)

  • That ‘no mainlines’ would be a hard one to do. — SpyDude
  • Also, in fairness, cars with Real Riders are generally shelf queens. You have to have a steep track for them to do anything competitive. — SpyDude
  • Carded Chaos would be your most basic rip-and-run: tear it off the card, throw it on the track as is. — SpyDude

Ohh and 1 additional idea in Recognition of SST Diecast Racing:

> "Holy Smokes Ghost Pepper Grand Prix."

All vehicles must have a  hole drilled in the roof and an incense cone to be fitted there-in suitable for Ignition by (and at) the hosts discretion. Signed Waivers MUST accompany all entries!

Johnny Smoke will be in his Glory!

  • Lol. We need waivers for fire insurance! — SpyDude

Oh I forgot one: Flair For 70's Flares- Any licensed vehicle from model year '70-'79 with at least two flared fenders, running the gamut from stepside pickup trucks to Greenwood Corvettes.

  • Some of those flared castings are wall-to-wall on orange track, and would drag. That's not to say I don't like the idea, though.... thanks! — SpyDude
  • Good point! This sort of race would probably work best on Comet Tail or The Bir O or the like. — Spirit_Of_64

for a twist.

Transport your ride. Ice Road Trucking?  don't lose your car?
anyway...

Build a car, and a transporter that has to retain the car somehow (magnets, closing rear door, etc)

everyone races 2 races with the transporter

points for "full pull" aka your transporter delivers the car safely
(full distance pts for both car and transport, plus safety bonus

In all other cases, distance points for the car and transporter are combined

Highest pts starts the rally pole position,

3 classes to win, 1 trucking race, 2 rally race, and 3 grand champion trucker

would work great if the host had a track like 905's for the transport,
but any simple wide incline would work,

then a rally/mt track for the road rally part
How your transporter does sets the field for the rally

dr

  • Wow, that’s a good one. I close my eyes I see a lot of action. — alva1370
  • I’m thinking ramp trucks or flatbeds for transporting your ride. Maybe just a drag race with those, as they would be too top heavy to do corners. — SpyDude
  • yea, a drag with humps, open flat. could get wild with 2-3 transporters, and cars flying — dr_dodge
  • Also…I’m pretty sure all Transporters are too wide for orange track…Aaron Yonda had to modify them to compete at the Joust… — Crazy_Canuck
  • yea, thats why the transporters would need an open/wide. Comet tail is all open, i think, too — dr_dodge
  • Flatbeds with magnets E6000'd under the car being transported would work. It doesn't even have to be a 'running' car. — SpyDude
  • yea, you could run a copy car — dr_dodge
