Race Rewards cars from Walmart [SPONSORED]

Walmart was kind enough to send me a few exclusive cars to review to help kick off their Hot Wheels Race Rewards program. Basically you get points for buying cars at Walmart and then you can cash in those points for exclusive cars. Not a bad deal if you're a Walmart shopper. But even if you're not, the exclusive cars are maybe worth it...well, at least one of them.

The School Busted car is by far the best exclusive card you can get. All-metal with Real Riders, good lookin' retro bus. Take off the Real Riders and add some FTE wheels and the thing could be a contender. The other exclusive is one from the Monster Jam line of monster trucks. It's a fun line but obviously not much for racing.

The rewards program is free and all you need is a smartphone so you can scan your receipts and get points. Pretty straight forward and you don't need to download anything. And I've been told that if you're one of the first 1000 to sign-up before the end of August you'll get some free points towards your car.

Thanks for the write up! Looking forward to getting one of the buses.

But so far, it has been a pain in the butt for me. I used IE to try and upload pictures of my receipts. The website wouldn't work for me. Once I selected the image, it just sat there and would never upload my receipts. Maybe I need to use another browser. I then went and tried to use my phone. Took the picture and tried to send it. Still no confirmation that my receipts have been received.

Lots of complaints over at HWC about partial points being given. There are some positives though with correct information being given within just a few minutes.

I wonder if some people have figured out how to trick the system. The leader board has someone with 139,850 points. If they are buying HW cars, that equals 932 cars and would get almost 50 buses! Is someone really spending almost $1000 on mainline cars? I wonder if they are buying, taking pictures of the receipts, and then returning the cars?

I used the site on my phone and it worked without any major problems. Go figure. Browser checking the curse of many a web site (my own included). It'd be unfortunate if people could game the system but where there's a system, there will be people to try and break. If the program just OCRs the receipt or reads the bar code then that might be easy to forge.

But whatever, I was asked to review the cars more so than the program itself and I gotta say the School Busted is pretty awesome. I'm not one that really "collects" cars or goes after special editions but this one might be the bite.
