Darn it....it just figures that I had to do some necessary auto repairs($$) this month. Oh well, maybe there will be a few left in April.

with the DRAG TRACKS starter box, legs, finish line, 25' phone cable, [2] switches and a yellow drag tracks section that plugs into the blue D T starter and adapts to hot wheels orange, and a yellow drag tracks section that accepts hot wheels orange and plugs into the blue D T finish line... no yellow markers so on the diagram they are black...
orange hot wheels track connects the D T tracks, giving you re-action plus elapsed time for each lane
Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Track arrived today. We set up on top of the 6 lane set and ran a couple of rounds! Need to find a preferred length and ramp height for ease of set up and portability, but it works far better than I expected it would!

If that track has a timer would you like to hold a Before & After Venue?........

There's actually a problem with using dragtracks for Before and After. If it is the version that has reaction times, it combines the reaction time with the elapsed time. They shouldn't have even designed it to that, because in real drag racing that's not how it works. Using a dragtracks track with the Reaction time feature could be unfair for Before and After entrants, as the reaction time of the host will always be different on each run. The way to make it fair is to subtract the reaction time from the elapsed time, giving the true ET.

drag tracks are fine for the [2] racers in a pairing...they have the same reaction time...[one player mode]...
but not fair for comparing multiple passes...[as reaction time is included]...
...
If you race stockers the set is great, it adds your reaction time to the car's time... lets YOU have a say in the race's outcome...
without reaction time, stocker racing is a test of buying prowess... the racer has no effect beyond that...
thank you Brian for the place to modd race...

I probably will not be able to offer to host a race series until next fall. Like everlings said - I barely have time to do the builds for the current series! But thanks for asking.

Hmmmmm...... as not all of our racers are retired, having more time to build cars than the money to buy them...
what about a "RLD Veterans Venue" ?...
where we race past entries that are under 57 grams...
maybe ; 1 car with FTEs... one without ?
a builder's break for a summer series....bring on the chipped paint pounders !
could be multi-track layouts at one address ?
...NEED INPUT !

I do think this type of DT set (reaction and elapsed time together) would work well for the comparison race type that Stroller has set up. Run it in the one player mode - both cars have the same reaction time and you just record the difference in overall time to give you the difference in time for the series.

It still would also give you the race winner (1st to the finish line) in head to head racing like we do in other mail in bracket series.

My plan for tuning and testing will be to use it in the one player mode with two cars running. One will always be the same comparison car that the to be modified/tuned car runs against. I will get a base difference time as above. Then do a modification and see if it went faster or slower based on the difference in times.

I dont think it will be perfect system as both cars will still be open to dirt on the track, seam bumps, etc - but that is part of racing anyway (missed shifts, lane drift, etc)

Plus switch it over to 2 player mode and you bring back the element of reaction time (on this set) of "hand to hand" competition -a Smitty mod to this DT set I would have eventually done as well!
