Redline Derby Showroom thread
My national super truck series draftinator just need to get the 65 number stickers which I'll order off of Amazon and this will be ready to send
- Very nice! I'm still trying to decide which of my castings to prepare. What year is that, 2001? Good luck! — LobotomyScam
Chassis day with one off-set. Can you find it?
- I see someone is making a lot of soap box cars — Kingjester
- I never use soap....I use vodka. — Numbskull
- European I hope ;) — G_ForceRacing
- Despite my poor eyesight, I think it's the green chassis... (Chassis day, I love it!) — G_ForceRacing
- It was an accident, but the chrome chassis has one wheel 1mm (ish) off of the ground. This should be fun to watch. — Numbskull
- Yeah my big rig has that issue, three axles don't fit on the axle jig! lol — G_ForceRacing
This is Flat Iron, a Hot Wheels "crushed car" based off the '71 Plymouth Satellite casting. I ground out the windows, replaced the wheels, frankentsteined an interior using bits from my 1_64 graveyard, then stripped and re-painted it. The temptation is to add a set of skeletal arms/hands clutching the steering wheel and enter it in some online races ... :D
- Honestly the whole skeletal thing would make this perfect for a Halloween themed race, like a car that has come back from the dead — Kingjester
- Heck yeah - good times! — Bell_Creek_Raceways
- Wow, nice work! — AndySeaman
I picked up this vintage, beater, Hot Wheels Gremlin Grinder at a toy show recently and gave it a makeover. I really wanted to save and reuse the redlines on it but they were just fried. That being said, the thing just plain HAULS on these OH5SP's. A little slug of zinc on wheels. :)
- I like that! — dr_dodge
- Nice!! I dig it! — AndySeaman
- Yeah, she's purty. I wish Hot Wheels would bring the casting back (outside of the RLC). — Bell_Creek_Raceways
- super cool — Numbskull
I received this 1996, 3-Window '34 Ford Coupe in an ebay lot. It was loose, hot pink, and one of the front fenders had a short pour defect, so it became my very first custom car. As you can see, I went right to town on it.
I trimmed the fenders, dremeled the heck out of the body, chromed the motor, blacked the interior, swapped the wheels for some OH5SP's, added a sunroof, and topped it all off with a crusty rust patina. My fave detail is the wonky, left front headlight, dangling by a "wire" (I used a whisker - I knew this beard would come in handy, someday).
Rolls like a mutha, too. Vood'n-vood'n! :)
- cool, a whisker...lol — dr_dodge
- What can I say, it was handy - lol — Bell_Creek_Raceways
- lol — dr_dodge
My first proper-ish attempt at making a rusted out scrapyard car. Got myself a Speed Bump casting and pulled the wheels from a Matchbox Push N' Puller (I got a real soft spot for the hubbies). At least until I make enough cars to fill a scrapyard, she'll be a resident of a display container with some Hobby Lobby ground cover.
- Fantastic! Love the crushed cars. I'm working on Sudden Stop right now. Love your version of Speed Bump - inspiring. — Bell_Creek_Raceways
- nicw work — dr_dodge
- Nice wreck. — AndySeaman
Heading to the big rig showdown, should be tons of fun!! ;)
This is my entry into the upcoming Vintage Sports Car Tournament hosted by G Force Racing.
- that is tough! love it! — dr_dodge
- Nice and Clean, Love the Green. — Bent_Rod_Racing
- purty! — Bell_Creek_Raceways
- I love the chrome "helmet"!! — G_ForceRacing
- Thank you all for the compliments! This is my latest build and I think a contender in the race it entered. My driver is just a chromed earring post stud. I love how it fits and really does look like a helmet in the cockpit. — BadWoolRacing
- Can't go wrong with British racing green! I'm working on one myself! — Stoopid_Fish_Racing
- Her turn to race is coming up before too long! :D — G_ForceRacing
A conversation with my brother re: populated vehicles reminded me of this classic Matchbox MG 1100 from my childhood. What could I do but track down a beater to update?
Beyond the paintjob (inside and out - woof) I also updated the wheels from the classic black originals to these modern, MBX ringed disc wheels, which required quite a bit of grinding to open up the wheel wells. Lotsa fun.
- Great Job, Love it! — Bent_Rod_Racing
- nice — dr_dodge
- That looks great! If I was 1/64 I'd steal it.... haha seriously tho, great job. — AndySeaman
Got this ford escort for the rally tournament EP videos is hosting, I'm trying to work on my hand painting skills and well I mean this didn't come our terrible but definitely could have been better
- Not a bad start - a little rough but not terrible. I've just started playing with masking tape for racing lines and color breaks - lotsa fun and super effective. — Bell_Creek_Raceways
- what kind of paint are you using, that makes a huge difference — dr_dodge
Diecast Street League
- Roy's gonna be green with envy seeing those. He might also be green from eating too many bean burritos... — Spirit_Of_64
- His farts are--amazing. — Numbskull
Look what I found deep in my "garage", just what I need for the concept car race at Ol' Yadkin! :) Dodge Charger concept car...
