Another week of lockdown in the books. Hope everyone is staying sane and doing well. And I hope you've been able to keep the racing going. My home track is still offline due to some remodeling but the axle alignment jig factory is going full steam as orders keep coming in. Happy racing!

Headline

Moving moutains, building some scenery
Tracks like 3DBM's Race Mountain get a lot of attention thanks to the modeling and detail put into them. It's more than just a track, it's a world where stories happen. We've all probably done some scenery in the past, but here's my formula for making mountains and building up the scenery.

Topics

Alternative track materials
We featured Chaos Canyon last week and since then we got some insight on the materials used to build the track. It's a flexible-yet-sturdy foam board that allows Chaos Canyon to be rolling hills, turns, and jumps.

Mayes Mountain Motor Speedway
And speaking of built up tracks with great scenery, check out Mayes Mountain Motor Speedway. It follows the Race Mountain layout with a lot of great detail that makes it ready to race. Check out the Track Directory listing.

Rejiggering the Drag Track system
What started as a distress call for rewiring the Drag Track finish line, turned into a great fix-it tutorial for the Drag Track starting gate. It's notorious for not releasing cars but Bruno from Team 164 opened up the guts and found a simple solution.

Events

The RLD Racing League April Race is scheduled for this weekend. Get a look at some of the entries and prepare for some good racing.

Redline Rumble Update: I'm going to do my best this week to get a track up and stable enough to run the Rumble soon, hopefully this weekend or next week. There's a lot of factors at play so can't say for sure. Sorry to be sitting on the cars for so long...I know folks want them back and I'll do my best.

And if you're looking for some more racing, check out the Last Week in Racing posts that covers some of the diecast racing happen on YouTube.

Well i'm glad I moved into my new house while RLD was fairly slow... i'm still don't have my workbench set-up again nor do I have a place for a track!

  • Priorities man! Don't worry about setting up the lounge till your workbench and track are set up ;) — Chaos_Canyon
  • Shoooooot I build on the floor most of the time. I got so used to doing so I just cant get away from it! Same with working on real cars. I used to work in gravel and now I have a garage and I find myself out in the driveway more often than not! — Mattman213
