Scoring...How Does it Work?

Preacher Sunday, 1/13/2013

Just wondering how does the "Scoring" work in the race? I mean, if a car get 1st position, or 3rd position...what kind of points are awarded for the positions the cars come in, and how far down the positions do you go in awarding points? I hope this makes sense? I need to know this for our churches racing team...want to start the year off in the right direction.

It's entirely up to the sanctioning body. Just have to come up with a plan and stick to it. You can check the mail-in threads for the series run here on the Derby to see what's been done in the past.

For our league it is 10 pts (1st), 6 pts (2nd), 3 pts (3rd), and 1 pt (4th). We award just the top four as we have a four lane track. No one can have more than one car in the final four, you race yourself if you have more than one to get your fastest car.

Like Carl said though, it all depends on how you want to do it. If you have tons of cars I don't think you want to go back too far to award points, that could take a while. I have seen some leagues award points just for entering and not making it into the final four.

That sounds great, and | think I'll keep that in mine when setting up the race. I believe we will only do 1-3 place positions in the points system on our track...I like keeping things simple.

The Fantasy League scoring is outlined on the How to Play page.

I'm not sure if it's the ideal spread of points per round but it seems to work without having too many same scores at the end of the tournament.

The LJLRC has 4 points for 1st, 3 for 2nd, and 2 for 3rd. They also have fastest time points, but I don't know if your club deals with that.
