Season 6, Week 2 recap and analysis

This week's tournaments were real battles in many, many match-ups. Several rookies made their debut and one of them is already a winner.

International Affair - Weight was not the key to success in this bracket as the well-tuned Triumph ran its way to the top of the pile. Although every race the Triumph was in was a close battle, only the round one against the Healey being the "easy" win. Elsewhere in the bracket, the battle of Lamborghinis was not very interesting as the Diablo blew away the Countach. I'm not sure if it's just a trait of the Countach, but it was just SLOW. The Diablo's weight certainly helped, but the equally weighted Mercedes SLK was not one to be messed with. The spunky SLK ran some come-from-behind heats against it's C-Class brother before dispatching the Diablo with much trouble. In the third round, I really thought the SLK had the power to take down the Triumph, but that just didn't happen.

It wasn't much surprise to see the Porsche get through round one and two, its beefy and rolls well. The new Ferrari 512M made its debut and while it made it to the final round, it didn't do so very easily. Every match-up the Ferrari entered was bumper-to-bumper, the winner most certainly decided by how many bumps and grinds it made going down the track. The 512 is fast and weighty but might not be the "sure thing" previously thought. I would expect to see the 512 in upcoming tournaments and I wouldn't doubt if it makes it to the winner's circle eventually.

Safe Bets: Split Vision Brit Speed
Prospects: Retro-Active, Bon Voyage

Discussion

When it comes to Moving Illusions, I have two words for everyone.

Boo-ya!

(Actually, that's one word...hyphenated.)

(And II shouldn't be so boastful considering how bad my OTHER race was this week.)
