Shortening the nose
So one of these days I would like to build an SS/BS / SS/CM Chevy Cobalt like this:
But the only 1/64 Chevy Cobalts there are is the Johnny Lightning version and the Auto World version, which are both Pro Stock cars. Pro Stock cars aren't original bodies in real life, and the designs have been tweaked a little bit. The most noticable change in design is the longer nose. In order to make either the Johnny Lightning or Auto World Cobalt look more like a stock body, the nose has to be shortened. Has anyone ever shortened the nose of a Pro Stock car before? I know it sounds crazy, but it's the only way to make the body look correct.

Thanks Milton, I'll check it out.

Here is Smitty's thread link...
Thanks Milton, I think I can do it. I wonder if I could use a band saw to cut a portion of the nose out of the body
Safety first! I am sure you can, but use a jig or clamp to hold the body - instead of your fingers!!!
A good coping or flush cut saw used with a miter box will work more safely!
Cool, thanks! I might have to buy more than one Cobalt just in case I screw up the cutting part of it
You just gave me a "Race" ideal! Just call the "Cobalt" a "Holden" and we can have an Australian V8 Super Cars downhill series at a couple of those open road race gravity courses...
there is an Aussie '73 falcon as well...
... I will donate some orange track stuff to the race host, not perfect condition, but free ....[1] dual 180*, [5-6] single 180*s, [2] 90*s, loop d loops,
Don't forget the Falcon Race Car released in 2012!
K&O,
Still have all your fingers?
Yep, still do! I haven't tried it yet, because I don't have a JL Cobalt yet.
There are way better Cobalt's racing then those Defrank's. The to have some nice products on the market. And Jimmy and his brother are some alright guys. I take the 85 Camaro and paint as many as I can find to look like my car and pass them out to the kids at races.
I dont know if anyone has done a Cobalt before, but there is a thread about joining diecast bodies. You can refer to that for the technique.
