So how many cars have you bought in a 24 hour period?

Jobe Friday, 9/17/2010

Ok let's call it 26 hours!

Yesterday at lunch ran to Toys R Us and picked up 10 cars
Then off to a Wal-mart but walked out empty handed.
Last night after working out at my shop I stopped by a Wal-mart kind of on my way home and bought 13 cars.
After lunch today I hit Target for 3 then to a local hobby shop where I bought 16!

Most of this was in a quest for 60's muscle cars for my race on Monday, doing a buy-in race of all 60's muscle cars.

I also picked up 4 Mystery cars, the complete set of Keys for Speed cars with the keychain included, 8 older FTE's, a few cars for myself and a few to modify.

Ok, no more cars for awhile...

Yeah, I seemingly have car buying spurts too, but I think that just has to do with Mattel's release cycle on cars. I'll not hit up any stores for what seems like weeks or a month, then go and there's a whole mess I don't have so I get them. I think the most I've gobbled up is probably 15-20 in a day...well, one trip.

Depends on the sale too! The Kroger grocery store in my town often has cars on sale for 69 cents, and that's when I'll buy most of my part cars and others I don't really want in my shelf collection but want for the league.

And I love the always popular "kind of on the way home" trip to the store - we've all made those!

What are those key chain cars? I need to get out and nab one of those!

Don't short change that GTO convertible from that first pic, she's pretty quick.

You got some great variants too, I need to keep an eye out. I really love that news van, though I wish they'd give the Super Van that treatment.

And a Mini FTE?! Neato! I know I'm doing tomorrow!

Those are some nice muscle cars and several I've not seen yet. Think I outta get back into the stores!

A few years back I went into a Toy R Us store during a 'buy one get one free' sale and scored over 40 cars. It was one of the only times I actually waited for a store to open to do my shopping. Most of the cars I bought that day were cars I'd never seen before, the cars that the diehard collectors who open the stores everyday snag off the pegs before the 'once in a while' collectors like myself can get 'em. It was a cool experience, a real shopping frenzy, but something I haven't done since.

I bought thousands of loose cars for about 12 cents each. They used the UPC's
for a mail-in promo and they sold off the loose cars. At 12 cents each, I couldn't pass them up!

After that, I bought at least 800 at one time. I bought these cases to get the following pic!

Are those all 'white interior' Mustang Mach 1's from the Wastelander series? If so, listed at $25 each, that's a $375 lot of Hot Wheel treasure!!

Wish I could find cars for 12 cents each! My first big lot was 40 cents each NIP. wow.
My wife would kill me if I brought that many cases of cars in to the house!

If you want to make a sweet return on your investment I'll buy the ones you don't want for 24 cents each!

Okay, so I just need to ask, where do you go to buy CASES of cars?

Mark (or anyone), can you give me a quick lesson on cases? Where...how much...cars inside? Worth it?

Something about getting a huge case seems like it would take some of the fun out of finding cars out in the wild, no?

I've been buying my mixed cases off ebay. But I guess you strike a deal with one of the stores to just buy a complete case from them? Some of the collectors will have to chime in on that one.

The cases usually have 72 cars in them from what I've seen.

I was at a Wal-mart the other day when they were unloading boxes of toys. no hot wheels though!

I would not buy cases anymore. Too many doubles and triples and
cars that you can't use on the track.

Jobe, the cars were all loose. The person that I bought them from
used the UPC's for a mail-in program. The cars that I can use for
the parties are keepers since I got them so cheaply. The ones that
I can't use get included as a 'free car' when people buy a bag of
ten Hot Wheels compatible track connectors from me.

Besides, you didn't want any of these, did you LOL!
