A quick review of a nifty Hot Wheels Cataloging app for Android phones. My first try at a tutorial, so I hope you all like it. youtu.be/-69LyvMqUBs

Hahaa...the Sort It app rears it's ugly head once again! We reviewed the same app many years ago in when it was rather new. Back then it didn't hook me at all. There wasn't enough of a database behind it and what data it had was crowdsourced so there was no consistency and a bunch of duplicates.

But it sounds like you dig the app, which is great, and I'd hope that after 6 years the app would improve somewhat, if for nothing more than the database has grown. Visually, it doesn't look much different and the quality of the data looks like it still varies quite a bit between cars. But it's something to help you keep things organized.

I haven't looked but I'm guessing Mattel still hasn't put out an app for collectors yet. That's the only thing I'd probably consider using to track my inventory because they have official first-party data...from serial numbers to variants. Now that's something I'd pay for, you hear that Mattel? Take my money!

Granted, I'm not a big collector in terms of finding all the cars released in a year or anything like that. I would just want an app that has all the cars available and I go through and say Yes or No, like I do with the Hot Wheels posters. For me, entering in any data is too much work for what I get out of it. Plus, in my opinion, that interface is an insult to my eyes. I would have thought the app would updated its look over the past 6 years because it still looks like its from 2012 when we did our review.

But regardless of the app itself, nice job on the video. You gave a good tour of the thing.
