Team Hot Wheels High Speed Wheels

Has anyone tested this version of the Hot Wheels? I curious to know if the "High Speed Wheels" hold true. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

TL;DR version: They're faster then most mainlines but don't hold a candle to FTE1s or even FTE2s. Not worth the hefty price tag.

Im one of the few that have seen really good results with the High Speed Wheels. Check out my reace of champions in the racing section. We have raced hundreds and hundreds of cars. Right now three of the speed wheels have made the final 32 cars. Two FTE1 wheels have made it, no FTE2, and one FTE3 (newest version).

They were outlawed on our league track because of their performance along with any cars that have the FTE1 wheels.

and one FTE3 (newest version).

WOOHAHAAHH??!?!? Hold the phone. Why was I never informed of this???!?!?! Pics please!!!!!

You know what those are, they are the ugly ones!

I just refer to them as FTE3 as there was a difference in when Hot Wheels made the original FTEs in 2005-2006. I call those FTE1s. I call the next round of wheels 2009-2011 the FTE2 as they generally are slower than the originals. And finally the end of 2011 and into 2012 version the FTE3. It is just the way I separate out the FTE wheels.

I'd say the HSW is just a gimmick as the few in the Fantasy League haven't produced much but that's not real fair considering the Camaro at least went up against some of the fastest cars in the League. I'd have to agree that the HSWs don't seem to compare to the FTEs.

The cars with those wheels (High Speed Wheels) that have come through here in the mail in races have not done well.

IMO, HSW cars have received a 'bad rap' because they're rarely fast right out of the package). The acetal plastic used in these wheels is more dense than the styrene-based plastic used in standard wheels. This means that they take longer to "break-in". But once they're broken in, the perfomance of these wheels can rival FTEs....or at least they do on my tracks.

Nope, never tested them but the science is interesting. Unfortunatly, most of the models that they put them on are not downhill racing contenders. I would expect the best ones are Prototype H-24, Lotus Concept, Torque Twister, 4Ward Speed, and Bone Shaker.
