The Basic Expectations as A Host/Racer

ElevationDiecastRac1ng Friday, 5/9/2025

Hey folks....dad here at ElevationDiecastRacing....I have had the honor of being a part of this hobby going on 8 years now with going on 5 of those 8 being an active racer in the diecast community.  I am also a well known host to racers around the world in the hobby. I built this channel with my son when he was 8. Now, 15. Since then, he has fallen back from racing, and I have embraced it. For me, this is extremely fun. I enjoy hosting races and racing at other tracks. During my short 5 year racing career, I have sent a lot of cars to a lot of different tracks. And like most everybody else, when I first started, I got my tailpipes handed to me. As time went on, I got faster and started winning here and there. But one thing was always the same.... My cars came back as fast or sometimes faster than when I sent them out....until recently. I do my dead level best to be neutral, friendly and impartial to every Racer that races here at Elevation Diecast.... I graduated from graphite a little over a year ago, so when I send my cars out to race somewhere, I do not ever expect them to come back with graphite All over the axles. Sadly, this was the case when my cars returned from Sean over at steel city, mafia racing. When I asked him about it on a recent live broadcast, he persisted on claiming he did nothing to my car. But I found it really hard to believe when my car was thirty thousandths slower than when I sent it to him. So much to the fact that other racers reached out to me knowing the speed I carry and the expectations they had when watching the video that still city mafia put on with my Car rolling for his track record.  I've thought this over and was not going to post this here. But since his video short apologizing for not recognizing me tying the record, what's the last straw for me.... Because I could care less about that. What I really want to know is why my car was full of graphite when I got it back. In closing, my advice is 2 investigate and get to know folks before you start sending your cars to other places,... are they Registered here?. Do they have a track record? Are they a good host? Ask yourself these questions. Ask other racers about places you want to send your cars. About the experiences they've had at that track. I wish Sean nothing but the best in his racing career.... And we'll still be sending him the cars I have set aside for him as a gift from Elevation... And remember, if your car isn't fast, at least it will look good on the shelf.

Discussion

This probably not the place to post this and expect respect and understanding. I made this same post over a year ago and had rookie racers encouraging hosts to graphite their cars. Only someone with no experience would want their cars tampered with. That's why you can't find a veteran racer on this site anymore. Best course of action is if a host graphites your cars without your permission just never race there again.

It seems very odd to deny something that seems so obvious as to what happened.  Like when I walk into the bathroom and there is an empty toilet paper roll in the holder. I say to my kids: "who used the last of the toilet paper and chose not to replace it and instead leave that task to be done by the next person who uses the bathroom?" They both look at my like I'm nuts and they say: " I don't know dad, but it wasn't me"  I repond with "well 4 of us live here and mom is not home, so its just 3 of us here, and I know I didnt do it"  yet they continue to deny having any knowledge to this alleged toilet paper incicent.

If you did something mistakenly, even with the best intentions, you have to own up to it I secretly stuff lint from my dryer in every car Blueline sends to race on my track in an attempt to slow his cars down. And if he ever asks about it..... I will be honest and  let my kids answer him :)

Now that I have switched to using silicone for lube, I don't really want hosts to graphite my cars. However, I have not had this problem as far as I know.

That's a BIG yikes, doing anything to a racer's entry without prior advice & consent. There's no upside for anyone in that sitch and raises questions that should have no place in the hobby

Here's hoping Steel City can recover in time, reputation-wise

  • I've gotten a pretty overwhelming response via email and phone calls. It's not looking good for Steel City — ElevationDiecastRac1ng

My only gripe so far, with certain host is the amount of time it takes them to ship my cars back. Fortunately for me I have yet to have my cars tampered(graphited) with. Shout out to all the host that have a quick turn around after the race event and also send you a gift back! You know who you are. Salute

I did nothing to David's car. Other cars were ran that did have graphite. I would never do anything to anyone's cars without their permission. What would I gain by putting graphite on someone's car?  I have never worked any cars sent to me to race.
