The Carpet-Delivering Cadillac V-16
As any car that can fit in the DragTracks starting gate can be entered in Run Whatcha' Brung, I decided to input simple, removable modifications on my Cadillac V-16 without drilling it apart as it will be used in the Stock Car Derby. Two pinewood derby weights were taped together with foil tape, attached to the car with a rubber band, then sealed with foil tape onto the car to prevent the weights from detaching. Overall, this gave the car a third more of its speed.

Although a tournament for "external modifications only" could be pretty interesting...have to keep that on the radar.
The Cadillac was raced at the last C4 meet. Not only did it win Run Whatcha' Brung, but it also beat their fastest modified vehicle ('79 Ford Pickup) that was much heavier.
Just an fyi, in drilled rivet (modded) race, we try to keep the cars looking like race cars (or hot rods, or pickups or whatever the theme is). The idea is to make the cars run fast AND look cool. Any body can strap/glue/tape a pile of lead onto a car and make it fast...weight=speed. The challenge is make the cars fit the theme of the race and be fast.
All of us are here to help promote the sport and make it grow. By running fun races with cool looking cars, it makes more people want to get involved. The more people that are involved, the better the competition.
So, until we have a Cadillac Carpet Delivery race, your Caddy might have trouble fitting a theme :)
