“The Tub”
I finally have my track working. I still need to attach a timing system and personalize it a bit but it works. I needed to make something I could store when I was done with it, it had to be able to run modified cars and cars right out of the package, it had to be semi-kid proof, nothing is totally kid proof so I did the best I could. I also wanted to keep it as simple as possible, no bags of hardware or tools. It is mobile but I wouldn't set it up in the sun. I already lost a 180 turn like that. I'm calling it "The Tub."
It's kind of vanilla right now but I have some decent ideas on how to personalize it.
If I could only build a car...

look forward to seeing more!

I like it, I like it a lot. Good job.
I like it. Simple design and easy storage.
Great design and should bring tons of fun to the gang!
Now that is a cool mobile setup. Nice job.
If you can find one, pick up a flipping fast. Nice balance, it may work on your track. Photo courtesy of Doc.
Great concept! Well done
That cross over after the 1st turn is an awesome way of evening out the inside lane advantage. Looks brilliant!!!
- Thanks, the crossover was the toughest part. They come out of the second turn so fast they were not making it through the crossover. It took me many adjustments to get that part to work. — Soapy_Waters_Racing
Thanks for the kind words everyone.
It was hard to tell if my cars were getting faster without a track to test them on. As my cars got faster I found myself adjusting the slope to keep them from getting flung off. I used clamps to hold the turn boxes in place as I worked out the slopes. It is amazing how a few inches will affect 10 feet of track. I have a fastest car but I still do not know how fast it is. My next improvement will be a timing system.
It's over 45 feet long and the last quarter or so is fat track, it gives the cars a little chance to bump and run before the end. After the holidays I plan to scoop up some more fat track and increase the fat track length to about one third of the track. Once I started to cut the orange track to size and got the proper track connectors it got a lot smoother and faster.
I learned a lot over the past year working on this. I bought a lot of the same cars to test weight placement and other stuff. I also have a better idea of what cars are worth working on.
Thanks again
Love the track, I really like the idea of it being able to dismantle and hang like you show.... Awesome job, cant wait to see more... Keep up the great work!!
Looking good! I am forever making slight adjustments to my track, which is 2 lanes from start to finish with 6 curves and a crossover. It baffles me as to how much a1 slight adjustment near the top affects the track in 4 different places further down. Looks you have things under control, happy racing!
Hey that looks fun!
