There was a (JB Weld) accident today @ Sunshine City Garage
So, I was track testing the Javelin (and admittedly testing the track as well) when a near catastrophic JB Weld accident occured when the Javelin jumped the track and broke apart. I was able to easily fit it back together and it is again ready to go to Pike's Peak 2.0 where I will once again shoot for the goal of not being last. This did get me to thinking about my future of racing aspect of the hobby. Between this and being washed out at Jungle Falls (still feel honored to have had the shot on the track!) I will still enter races don't get me wrong, but I feel that first and foremost I'm a restorer and customizer. Although I am very grateful for ALL the offers to race I feel I stretched myself too thin getting that many cars ready in the timeframe I had. This has been a great learning experince and I'm glad it happened the way it did. Not to mention I still have several more races to not come in last in! I'm definitely following through with the last two races I entered, Pike's Peak and the First Annual Franken Gasser, but in the future I will be a bit more selective about which and more to the point how many races I enter.
Again, thank you to everyone for the encouragement and the opportunities but I have a tendency to jump into something a bit more than I should and it has been a learning point.

Just keep dipping your toes in the pool and having fun with it.
Happens to everyone, I accidentally destroyed a van a few hours after it was mailed back, trying to strip the paint. I was on my lunch break and I wanted to make it a news van prop for my NASCAR Series. I used some spray I borrowed from a mechanic at my work, which the internet told me would strip the paint without harming the plastic. That was a lie. It made the plastic discolor, made everything super brittle and felt like was so cold it was stored in liquid nitrogen, made it smell like nuclear waste, and dissolved the adhesive strip holding up the windows. Didn't even strip the paint. I dropped it and it broke into a million pieces. You live and learn, I've been doing this for almost 2 years and still do stuff like this

I just try to try different things
and have fun, and try to at least give the host some eye candy
and love seeing my car in the vids, even in the background
I don't trust any glue, so solder, screws, brass, copper, and low temp castings are what I build with
I have successfully gotten on the yellow snow at 905, so,
respectfully, you need to work at last place a bit more...lol

totally agree with that approach... I did like you when I first started and got covered over by entering too many races and not concentrating on getting better at building. Be selective and build good cars for the races you enter. I'm still not that good at it but I feel like I am making some progress.
