Thoughts about my 1st mail in

Howdy!

Well, NRR Deuce has been run and all I have left to do is gift car race. This was my 1st mail in, I don't know if it's last also but I'm certain that I can't host these monthly bases.

Even when I had made sure that everybody has enough time for their entries to arrive up here in north (Finland), there was variable that I didn't see coming and that was some new EU bureaucracy nonsense for shipments outside EU. Luckily my friends at Scale Racing Channel and Bavarian Diecast Racing made things easier for me, and all (but one) made it in time. Even that one made it to second event.

1st part was drag race and that was absolute nerve wrecker as I wanted to be absolutely sure that I don't get number blindness when getting cars in correct order, sometimes I get that and even had to some re-shoots when wrong car advances. Not this time.

2nd part was road race and that was much more relaxed shoot, even tho there's some calculus involved. Actually made one error there but catched that one in time. Since I had made clear that entries aren't coming back to racers, I only have winner's box to deal with. Of course things have now progressed to point where I can't even send gift to US...

All and all this was very positive experience, support and especially generosity is mind blowing. I can't thank enough anyone who has helped me with this double event, and also huge thanks goes those who sent extra cars and gifts even when those aren't mandatory. RAOK is real here. Who knows, maybe another in 2026. I know shipping isn't cheap to these parts of the world so that is one thing to consider.

See you on the track.

Thanks so much for the evnt Tomi, I appreciated it!

Great production as well!

Congrats to the new "Ray gun !" Ha!

Disappointed my experiments failed on this big occasion, back to the garage! I have a blind spot for doing something different, oh well !

Cheers

I enjoyed seeing quite a few well known builders all race off against each other. Another country ticked off the list for a few :)

The Serpent is a unique track which we all enjoy.  Keep throwing out those videos and hopefully we can have another go in 2026.

Learning is Happening, and I value these insights, Tomi!! Beneficial for any up and coming host to read in preparation for their first mail in event where stakes and personal reputation in the scene come to the fore!

Also, very fun videos, thanks again!

Tomi, I think you did a great job considering what,  I imagine, has to be a bit of a nerve-wracking experience. Trying to make sure that you had everything spot on with some of the best racers and some of your best friends in the hobby. Nicely done.

Your channel is one that I have admired since I've started racing. The combination of drag racing and your circuit track makes for some of the best racing around. It's obvious that you spend many hours trying to get your tracks just so to make for fair and equitable racing. I noticed right off during the drag race that your way of keeping track of times was to have little strips of paper for each competitor with their times that you arranged on the platform just next to the finish gate after each run from fastest to slowest. Great idea as opposed to writing it down in a notebook and then have numbers jumping out at you after each round, trying to get the rankings jotted down elsewhere. Great idea. I'll do the same when I run cars not just for tournaments, but for testing all my cars as well.

Thanks so much for letting me participate. Again, I think you did an excellent job. I'll definitely be back. Oh, I don't say all of this because I luckily won both races. I would do the same had I Finnish(ed) last.

  • Thank you, it was pleasure to have you and others racing in my tracks. — NRRacing
  • Also, those strips of paper. I wrote names on them, then covered them with self adhesive plastic film. That way I could write times on them and wipe them clean for next round. — NRRacing
