Alley Cat Race Club and Garden Canyon Run announce ongoing, open racing in a king of the hill format. In each round, two competitors will go head-to-head, the winner will then face the current GCR Champion to see who is Top Cat!

Racing will be held at Garden Canyon Run, the Most Dangerous Track in the PNW, a rally style track with a mix of laned and open road sections. There are 8 checkpoints along the course; the first car to pass all four wheels across the checkpoint collects the point. Cars switch lanes between two runs, most points wins the round and moves on to attempt to de-perch the Top Cat from their lofty position!

Race format and scoring

Racing will be held at Garden Canyon Run, the Most Dangerous Track in the PNW, a rally style track with a mix of laned and open road sections. Racing will be head-to-head, 2 cars at a time. There are 8 checkpoints along the course; the first car to pass all four wheels across the checkpoint collects the point. Cars switch lanes between two runs, most points wins the round and moves on to face the current Top Cat and attempt to eject them from the hot seat!

Cars that do well at Garden Canyon Run tend to be long, with low COG and a high ground clearance. Also, cars that do well must be jammed full of good luck, because they will need it.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

Remember, only 3 rules: Between 48-75 grams; bright colors; must look like a car.
Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will attempt to be repaired or replaced.

Prizes

Bragging rights! There may be occasional prizes from time to time at the discretion of the race promotor.

This sounds awesome!  I'll send you some cars.  Can't wait to see the races.

Where in the PNW are you?  I'm in Seattle.

  • Hi there! I'm in Seattle also, Central District. When the time comes you should bring them by and give the track a go! — AlleyCatRaceClub
  • Cool! I'm also in Seattle... Greenwood/Phinney Ridge. — GenX_VintageRacing

Would love to a spot, will this be an ongoing event?

  • Hello sir! Yep, an ongoing event. My hope is that cars will just continue to trickle in over the next number of months. If I get a bunch at once, I'll try to pair/group them by theme of some sort. But otherwise, yep, just ongoing racing to see who can beat the current champ. — AlleyCatRaceClub

Hi, I'll be sending at least a couple in from the UK.

  • Greetings Team_13! I look forward to seeing your entries, thanks for taking part! — AlleyCatRaceClub

This sounds like another great racing adventure at the Garden Canyon Run! You never know what's going to happen, but I do know I want to try and be the Top Cat! :D

Well, we've now got three teams present with cars to run in TOP CAT! to see in they can unseat Matthew Deavers as the current best of the best. Matthew's with ND Racing, those cars above on the left are from G4 Diecast Racing, on the right from Team Grumpy Cloud, and there in the middle are entries from Alley Cat Race Club.

The track has been updated and is running fast and dangerous from the start through checkpoint 8!

I think we'll start soon with some practice laps and a set of qualification runs to set some fair way to pair everyone up. Then we'll have head-to-head runs, each time we get a winner, they get to face the current TOP CAT! Have you got cars to send in? Shoot me a message if you need the ship-to address, and I do now have Venmo, PayPal, and CA$H app to use to get me some return shipping funds. This series will run for a while, so there is no deadline to get your entry in.

See you out on the track race fans!

Ruckus Racing's research & reconnaissance rides are in transit. Two cars. Different wheel bases, wheel sizes, weights, and weight placements. Let the process begin.

Hey gang, it's been a while since I posted here, so if you haven't been keeping up, we're 6 rounds in to the TOP CAT! series, with 5 teams represented. Each round there's a head-to-head battle, with the winner moving on to face the champion for a shot at the title.

After four cars have been eliminated, they get to face off in some 4Up racing mayhem, and that winner will get allowed back into the race.

Superman Matthew Deavers is just killing it over here as TOP CAT!, as he did all summer long. He's got some fast company though in the next round with both G4 Diecast Racing and team Grumpy Cloud bringing serious heat to the track!

We've also got some surprises and plans for the eliminated cars, so don't think just because they've lost out that they are done. Nope, there's still ways we can break them on the Most Dangerous Track in the PNW.

Once your entire team has been eliminated, I'll send your cars back to you. Let me know if any of you are extra antsy to get your rides back though. Or don't care to get them back. Either way, I aim to please :-)

Those up above, are all the current entries , and your TOP CAT! through round 6.

Cheers!

Numbskull Racing is on the way.

  • Like FIRE! Right on, I look forward to racing them! — AlleyCatRaceClub
  • I love the color combination! — G4DiecastRacing
  • Thanks. I can't wait to watch them leap to their deaths on his crazy track. — Numbskull

Hey again gang, so I've updated the return shipping situation. I now accept funds via the CA$H app $chrisbevens, Venmo @chrisbevens, and Paypal @chrisbevens. I had previously picked a min return shipping fee of $6, but I've updated that to ask that, whatever it cost to ship to me, just match that. If you've already sent $6, don't worry you're fine. If you can pay more, thank you.

At some point I'll have to cut off entries, but not yet. Now to go charge the camera batteries...
