Track Racing layouts

Jungle Falls Raceway is a longer track. 112 feet long to be exact. My question to all racers. Do you prefer long straights  or more turns? As track designer I have the option to put longer straight portions in my build. More opportunities for passing and picking up speed.  Or I can add more technical turns for a lot tougher course in general.  Trying to find out what racers are looking for in a track.

Just my opinion.....This track is challenging....I'm not sure it's time already to change it up unless the goal is for less DNF's ?

I think it looks good!

I have only participated in one tournament with you but I loved your track during the visit.

I might say that it might feel like a waste to change it so soon. I mean I'd love another shot at it before it changes.

I still need to figure out how to get one to the bottom of this course without flipping or stalling... better car guys probably think it is good... still a noob after 1 year! lol

  • I put up another video of cars. Mostly 1 on 1 races just to get you as builders a better chance to see your car finish, or ideas on how to adjust for this lloong course — 1Jungle_Falls
  • Tough track, each race had a DNF. — alva1370

I'm a complete noob, but IMHO your track is right in the middle groove for what I would call 4 car road racing. It's not super easy or crazy hard. It's a good mix of chaos, speed and a little good luck or some bad luck on the way down. And of course, it helps if you've built a stable Fast and  somewhat balanced car.

I would let it ride for a few events and just see where the multiple DNFs occur. Those areas might need a minor tweak at some point

if you are concerned about multiple DNF's, you could do a simple rule that says every four car group gets one restart if there's a three car DNF

I would say give it a few events. Most people have only raced there once or maybe twice. People want to be able to learn from their mistakes so they can build a car better suited for the track next time.

I like straights with speed inducing drops.

You know me from video comments, I'm biased on your side. To get a track this long to run well deserves respect across the board. Builders need experience to figure out the combination of castings and weights to maximise their chances of success here. Rest assured that on the other side of the screen there's tons of feverish note taking and observation not just of their own car's performance but every car too.

From a mere fan's perspective the track is great and offers challenge that is far from insurmountable. Don't let early round failures set your mind to considering major changes just yet

One thing i'd be excited to see more often on any tracks: Turns that are more than 90 degrees, but not exactly 90 or 180 degrees. A good example of this is how Rick's Diecast set up his Comet Tail Raceway. I feel like it gives the track uniqueness, since perfect 180 degree and 90 degree turns seem the most popular.

  • That Slingshot has become quite the defining feature! I'd also point you to the vertical loop of laned track we once saw at The Skyway Thunder Run. That worked so very well as it fed into the mythology of a track suspended hundreds of feet in the air, adding greatly to the tension. On any other track, I feel a loop would be more of a distraction? — Chris_Hood

I like the long straightaways, so you can see the nice clean passing
