Vans and Can-Ams...
I'm just kinda tossing this idea out there...I've done a couple of races that involve teams of different vehicles...the Crew Chief races and the Beater Trucks/Fat Fendered come to mind. And after watching these heavyweight Funny Cars, I think it would fun to see some big, square, heavyweight Vans thundering down the track.
And also, I've always loved winged cars as well...Can-Ams being my favorites. And, to contrast the heavy vans, we run lightweight winged cars.
I'm just thinking out loud right now...and I'm open to suggestions. Let me know what you think. Maybe, run them after the Cop-n-Robbers? Or maybe run two separate series?

What a brick... the chassis flexes under the stock casting weight...

If this one gets scheduled for early 2016 then I'm in. Love me some van racing.
Wings...

Yup, I'm going to have fun with these builds! I just found that van!
Mock up, with fte's...yup...

This thing (old time Super Van) is sitting at 69.8 grams, as is (as apposed to a new 'Swat Van' at under 50)! With a ton of room inside...how heavy do you want to run these...100 grams is easy to make.
And, just an fyi, Chrysler 300 fte's (also beetle fte's, same thing) are a 'drop in swap' on this...just grind the little tabs that are behind the wheels and they fit perfect. The wheel wells will have to be opened up a little bit though.
This is going to be fun!
I don't know what happened to this poor Spoiler Sport...

But, maybe I can bring it back to life!
- yep. Sport... spoiled! — CrzyTrkrDude
- That might be able to qualify for either category! — Finkle_and_Sons
- Yeah, I think it might be a little heavy to make the "Winged" portion! :) — 72_Chevy_C10
Check out this sexy beast...

I sand blasted the body and chassis this morning.

And machined slots for 1/16" axle tubes.
More to come after I scare up some more fte's :)
hmmm....I built this guy awhile back. It had mold growing on it from my parents attic, so I did not mind throwing it in the thinner to give it new life. Although, I dont remember the weight it ran but I did not add any to it and the FTE axels are bent from minimal runs just FYI.

- I'll be throwing some weight in my SuperVans soon, and I'll see how they hold up! :) — 72_Chevy_C10
so would any of these work for "winged" ?

I guess, what I mean by "Winged Wonder" is a purpose-built race car, that has a wing incorporated into the design. So, of the above, only the Panoz would really kinda fit that definition. I'm really thinking Indy cars, Formula One cars, and Can-Am cars with rear wings. Not production cars "with a bit of scaffolding on back" (to quote Jeremy Clarkson :)
A couple of vans that are rolling pretty well...

Still need to add weight though
Cool, it looks like there is some interest!
This the stuff I'm talking about...

I had one of those, as a kid! I probably still have one, somewhere! :)
