Very first modded car!
Just finished my very first modded car to enter into an upcoming tournament! Hopefully it is fast! I don't have a timed track so best I can do it just prep it and roll it down my orange track to break it in! Here's everything I did to it using the gathered information and suggested tips from all you very kind members!
-FTE Axel swap, polished the area where the wheel will turn. Polish the wheel wells where the inside of the wheel will be in contact with the base. Added additional weight to bring it up to 65g using tungsten putty making sure to focus on the rear and rear centric areas Paint job (Not really a speed thing but it looks kinda cool!). Sanded the base down flat and polished it. Used a ISPxG lube to give it a solid lubrication (Once I get more comfortable I'm going to try Silicone Spray and Oil). Drilled holes for screws to seal it up in case I wanted to work on it or adjust weight).
I just started not terribly long ago so I know it's not the greatest but hey I tried and I'm happy for my first modified car!
BEFORE: 1970'S Silver Bullet, Damaged wheels, scratched up paint.
AFTER: Ready to race! Decided to use Testora Extreme Lawyer from Hobby Lobby to give it a pearlescent black look with a small patch of Carbon Fiber sticker in the rear hatch area! Base is flat black that's been roughed up a bit.

It's a two person job, but maybe have someone release the car at your signal, and you use the stopwatch on your clock app waiting at the finish?
Really dig that carbon fibre look, and Silver Bullet metal base is a good casting choice

- Haven't looked into the standard phone camera and to what degree they measure time. If to the thousandths place, definitely a bonus — Chris_Hood
I dig it, love the pearl black and carbon fiber rear. I like the older cars too, especially the Speed Fleet and Ultra Hots from the 80's, they're all really solid castings straight out of the package with a good lube job. If you plan on entering competitions but don't have any way to time your cars I suggest racing it against a handful of popular fast castings raw. If it can beat all of the stock cars within its weight class and even some heavier then I'd say you're doing well.

FAIR WARNING:
When tungsten putty gets warm, it WILL run like taffy, getting into your wheels and gumming them up. You can slow this process down by applying a thick layer of glue (like Elmer's Glue) over the top of the putty to make a "shell" so the putty stays in place. (This does not work all of the time, but enough to keep your car and wheels from being ruined.)
That being said, nice build and great repaint.
