Very Interesting

Just saw this on the YouTubes - up to 10 lane racing / timer setup

Really cool idea, but the servos that hold the cars at the start line move too slow and hold some cars back.
- Yep I saw that - neat modular setup - must use a lot of Wi-Fi communication. The amount of coding makes me way too dizzy. Then there’s the 3D printing….. — AbbyNormal
Don't the hooked ends of the release levers seem. . .unnecessary? What kept the design from being flat? Without a quicker response from the servo in rotating the levers we can see how some cars get snagged just from this demonstration, especially when the system scales up to ten such levers
B+ for the presentation, well perhaps B- since they didn't actually show how to adjust the setup for Monster Trucks' larger size
- Personally I'd flip the hooks the other way if I couldn't make them flat. It does appear to be a nice setup, though. — SpyDude
- I'll bet all components assemble just one way for simplicity sake so as to "user proof" the process. I believe that I side with those here who say the product is more fun than for serious racing — Chris_Hood
It's the ultimate, it says so on the internet.
I am happy when I see any new product development for this hobby. Pro - the creativity in its design gives me lots of ideas. Con - I want to aggressively bully whoever designed that start gate.
I love the mini screens for the finish gates.
I also think you could easily rig an additional pivot arm for the start gate that has an offset pin, so the gate that holds the cars is moved a greater distance in a shorter time than the current one. Or you could even just put a single plank across the front of all the start gates, so it reduces the chance of the hooks catching on the cars. I assume the designer thought it might get the bulk of the gate out of the way faster?
I love the modularity of the design for the whole system as well and it seems very easy to assemble and use - great for fun events or just playing around. Not sure it would stand up to the rigourous, high stakes drag racing on here though.
hhmmm....
