I have a great appreciation for vintage race cars and the drivers that drove them. Safety was basically an afterthought for both the drivers and spectators and "ergonomics" wasn't in the vocabulary yet. I've had the opportunity to drive 1950s era Jaguars and Bentleys at one point in my career and they were a handful at legal speeds. I can't imagine what they handled like at the limit.

Several years ago, I worked on the infield staff of a large east coast vintage race and show. There were 3 well anticipated Bugatti Type 26s there. I was responsible for instructing the owners were to park them. The experience was...interesting.
