When selecting which car to mod....
So I've been modding cars now for a month or two and have a dozen or so under my belt. I try to stay consistent in my techniques and approach. Something I've been wondering about is, is it best to already take a car that's relatively fast stock (after being lubed) and attempting to make it faster using all the existing techniques when picking cars to submit? I feel like you can only do souch for a casting that's middle of the road. I've modded a few cars that are "quick" but nowhere near "fast" stock. I feel like there is just certain elements that work against some castings, height, center of gravity, aerodynamic design, etc. while I would love to build to win, sometimes I like modding cars I really just love. Unfortunately some castings are just not designed or built to be track Burnerz. Anyone else have this sad realization that some of your favorite castings are just not cut out to be winners? Just good for thought......

In the beginning.....and continues today.....it was a learning curve to be able to pick out a fast car. It was NEVER the one I wanted to be fast. Watching videos and paying attention to what the veterans were running has helped the decision making process.
- I agree, I have been building my collection of the fastest stock cars that are widely known and some that are lesser known. I use the fastest stock cars as my baseline for feeling out which cars to choose to mod. If a car can keep up with my fastest stock cars I feel like after proper technique and modding it should hold its own and beat the fastest stock cars. — DRIFT_or_DIEcast_Racing
Try this:
Get your fastest stock car. Use this as your baseline car. Keep it stock, just oil it. This is the car to beat. (Personally, I consider smoothed wheels to be "stock", as well, because it fixes an error straight out of the factory. If it ain't drilled, it's stock.)
Run the cars you want to mod against it. Now you're ready to start drilling and swapping wheels and all the other fun stuff. Your goal is to beat THAT car.
