Diecast_Racer_PR Wednesday, 7/6/2016

Hey guys,

I love racing diecast cars I was doing it for some years and stopped. I am back into it is was wondering which are the best and fastest FTE to date. So many different options need some help. Thanks ahead of time

Hi, my name is Ed, I am new to the site, although I have been reading old forum posts for the last month.

Fastests FTE depends on the track it seems.

I have 10 FTEs, taking advice from many here I have only been collecting 2005/2006 versions.

My fastestest is the 16 Angels casting.  Although I just recently bought a Hot tub a few weeks ago that I am eager to race on my track.

In 2009 there was a site that tried to find the fastest Hot wheels and Johnny Lighning.  Top 5 for that track was 16 Angels, Hot Tub, Speed Bump, Hemi 300, Escalade.

Thank you Ed

In my experience with '05 / '06 Faster than Ever Hot Wheels, these cars are among the fastest...(in no particular order)...

Cadillac V16, '07 Cadillac Escalade, Formul8r, Way 2 Fast, Lotus Sport Elise, Mitsubishi Eclipse Concept, '69 El Camino, Acura HSC, Stockar, Chrysler 300C Hemi and 16 Angels

These cars have been consistently fast, although I have seen a few duds out of the package -no guarantee.

Have many other people on here had experience with the FTE Hot Tub? I know not everyone does this well with them, but I have on that's one of my fastest non-Funny Car/non-Redline HWs. It won HW Stock this past January at the Lincoln Johnny Lightning Race Club, and has been one of my faster cars in such a class on two other tracks (Rhode Island Hot Wheels Club and Southern New England Hot Wheelers).

Others I might suggest are the red FTE 2005 Mustang (I won a Red and Green Feature Race at SNEHW with that) and the green FTE Superbird (which hasn't been doing as well lately, but had a time in its life where it was pretty fast at the LJLRC; maybe I can try it on the LJLRC's new track surface).

  • FTE Superbird FTW, I have ran the hot tub a few times, but mine doesn't win. My non-FTE Firebird funny car wins... — gtaman
  • The track in WV is 50 ft so the hot tub may do better on a shorter track. The funny cars do best on ours, although the FTE superbird is 2nd — gtaman

The FTE Cadillac Escalade 07 and the Hot Tub are recommended by Racegrooves for their speed. I think it's safe to say that the Hot Tub is a good choice for racing.

Way 2 Fast!

Really, any of the above listed cars can be fast...the 05-06 fte cars seem to be the best tgat they have produced. But, you have to remember that these are mass produced toys...so, quality is only going to be so good.

I'd say that maybe half of the wheels are usable wheels for modding. I'd say 1 out of every 4 cars is a fast car from the factory...which is still pretty good.

What I'm saying is, jyst because you buy a Caddy 16 or a Way2Fast fte, it isn't a sure thing that it will be fast.

  • way 2 fast FTE has been a winner, good diameter and width wheel / axles — fordman

Maybe someone should host a stock FTE mail-in to have a shot at proving which is the fastest? (Though if you want to race my Hot Tub, it would have to wait until next year if it wasn't within driving distance of here, since I don't want to mail out a finalist ... though perhaps could host it.) Or--though again my Hot Tub couldn't race in it till 2018 due to retirement--maybe the LJLRC could be convinced to have an FTE Feature Race? I've still got a 2005 Mustang, green Superbird, Speed Bump, Way-2-Fast and Chrysler 300 which could be up for such challenges.

Has anybody race a hot wheel crasher before.....king wrex version
