About

The Great Sand Dunes in Colorado conjure up lots of great memories from my childhood.  Actual racing is not allowed in this national park, but in my diecast world, it is!

The start of the Great Sand Dunes is in a woodsy area adjacent to the dunes.  There are rocks and tree limbs cluttering the 4-lane track.  Then there’s a clearing before each driver must navigate over the rolling sand dunes.  The sand continues around the pretzel turn and ends when the drivers reach a concrete halfpipe.  They must maintain control and not fly off or spin out on the halfpipe.  The finish line is at the end of the halfpipe.  But wait, there’s more!  If the driver can clear the jump over the train and land on their wheels, they get an extra point.  If they fall into one of the coal cars they lose a point.

But wait, there’s even more!  Billy from the Hold My Beer guys developed a toy train ride for the fans; however, he built it too close to the finish line and drivers are hitting his train.  So, a one-time +2 extra points will be awarded to the driver who can derail Billy’s train.
