I'm throwing this out there and volunteering to host the first race. NASCARKeith came up with the series idea and discussion is here...

http://redlinederby.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1194

Any rule clarifications bring them up now.

Anybody want to race reply in this thread.

Also anyone willing to host, please reply in this thread.

Any thoughts or suggestions please bring them right on up.

I'm in....just need to dig up some cars from the right era/s.

Plenty of time.

I think we will leave it up to NascarKeith to assign car numbers. Otherwise you think, first come first served if you want specific numbers?

Personally, if I had a choice i'd take 40 and 43, but that's just me.

So the casting must have numbers on it, or if the car was a nascar racer...we can add our own Numbers?..or leave it blank?

I think the idea is, you add the number to the car. You will be assigned a number. If you want a specific number you can request it when you reply in this thread, but it's not guaranteed you will get that number. NASCARKeith is handing out the numbers.

I assume you can paint the numbers on, or draw them on with a pen or tape pieces of paper with the number right onto the car. Whatever it takes. You just don't want them to fall off.

Gotcha.

I'm in for racing and hosting.

If it's possible, I'd be good with the numbers 24 & 25 or 45 & 46. Those are numbers I have from the two series that are being raced now. Or whatever works best.

Great!

So far Tastelikedirt has 40 and 43. Of course I will run the 3 and 88.

Sign up and let us know what numbers you want. I believe we are all adults and should be able to pick our own numbers without arguing .

The idea with the numbers is to keep it in the spirit of NASCAR. Early cars were stock cars with glass removed or taped and numbers. If nothing else paint them on with white out.

Stroller Racing wants in on this one....Have to see what I got.....and my team needs numbers assigned. This should be cool....Nascar fan when Richard Petty ruled over it.....btw I do not want # 43.....

Stroller, what numbers you want?

I'll take 23 and 33...please

Glad To See His Event Take Place. For Me Its Hard Finding A Pre 72 Diecast Thats Reasonable Priced. Im In I Will Race And Host. I Would Like To Request #9 And Have To Look For The Pre 72 Car Before I Request A Number For That one.

Ok

Traction event 23 and 33

Kharvest 9

Finding cars maybe a little difficult if you are like me and don't have a large collection but there are so many options it should be fun.

. For Me Its Hard Finding A Pre 72 Diecast Thats Reasonable Priced.

Just to be clear the car itself does not need to have been made before 1972. But it needs to be a pre 1972 model. For example a '72 Gran Sport Torino shpo;d not be hard to find.

or a 70 Roadrunner.

62 Chevy

Those are just examples.

Oh Wow I Thought It Had To Be A Replica. Sorry I Misunderstood. So I Will Request #59 For My Second Number.

I'm in with the numbers 19 & 26!

Good deal.
davball wants to be Jeff Gordon with the 24 and 25.

My favorite NASCAR cars are those of the 70s

If not, then all we have to do is put a number on a car model that once raced in NASCAR?

I want numbers 42 and 67 if they're still available.

Exactly! Simple as that.

For example: you like the Hudson Hornet. It was raced in NASCAR in 1952 so it is a legal classic entry. Do you racing mods to a Hot Wheels Hudson and paint your numbers on and it's ready to race.

BTW, the 70's cars where some of the best looking.

I've been wondering about a NASCAR series...it sounds cool. However, I may or may not be able to enter--merely because I already have so many cars going in so many directions--and if I do, it might not be my very fastest qualifiers. But don't get me wrong, this is a great series.
I have two questions: One, what if you enter actual NASCARs with numbers already on them? Two, do the Huffman Stockers count as Classic NASCARs?

Team Fishtail wants in.. car numbers 68,69 please

Team Fishtail will be running 1970 Plymouth Superbird, and 2010 Chevy Impala

Team Traction Event will be running 1971 Plymouth GTX,and a 1973 Ford Grand Torino

Numbers already on the car are fine as long as they aren't already spoken for. The Huffman Stocker looks to be based off a early 90's Thunderbird to me soot would count for the modern era.

#94 and #32.

My cars are already numbered so hope they aren't taken!

For reference the assigned team numbers are in the first post of this thread. So far, they look like this.

I didn't clarify this in the rules so I'm posting it for discussion. Do the castings in normal mail in events have to be a Hot Wheels casting? Could you run an old racing champions car?

WOW! I'm gone for a day and look what happens!

TeamHalfFast would like to enter cars #1 and #11.

Do the castings in normal mail in events have to be a Hot Wheels casting? Could you run an old racing champions car?

I don't see why it would matter as long as a car was built within the spirit of the rules.

Do the castings in normal mail in events have to be a Hot Wheels casting? Could you run an old racing champions car?

In past races people have entered the random Matchbox or Johnny Lightning. People who want to go fast usually stick with the Hot Wheels.

I have some old NASCAR Racing Champion cars in a box somewhere. They look good that's for sure. I'm gonna dig them out and see if one could be made to go fast.

That's kinda what I thought I had seen. I have a huge rubber maid tub full of in the package Racing Champions. I found a few I had opened and played with. My modern entry will be a 1990 Racing Champions Derricke Cope Chevrolet Lumina that will be redone as a Dale Earnhardt #3. Hopefully I can find some FTE's or FTE2's that will fit it.

We'll host a race in June!

I can host race #2 here in Washington if that works.

I can host race #2 here in Washington if that works.

It does.

I have an idea to float out there.

With out rc scale rock crawlers we have scale points. Someone who builds an ultra realistic rig gets bonus points for realism. What if we all posted pics of our cars and voted for the best looking, most realistic representation of a NASCAR stock car. A best of show if you will. We could award points to the top three and those points would be added to the overall team points. First = 3 points, second = 2, and third gets 1 point. That way if someone skipped adding weight to keep the interior they would be rewarded. I think the effect on the race results would be minimal but it would encourage creativity. We could line them up 2x2 by class and put a pace care in front and get a really cool picture.

What do you guys think? I want to see someone build a full roll cage and put a driver figure in one.

That would look so cool! Love creatively done Hot Wheels pictures.

A Beetle ran in NASCAR??? Would have loved to see that!
Wait, didn't they make a movie about that? Herbie!!! Does anyone have the #53?

I didn't know about the VW. I knew the Tucker raced. If you haven't seen them you should google the convertibles NASCAR used to race.

Rally Case Racing would like to enter

Its Hard Trying To Choose A Pre 72 Car Cause There Are So Many IWould Love To Put On The Track.

Dan Gurney's car?

Yeah That's THe One. The Red Galaxie.

Finding a classic is tough. So many options. I would like to find a Hudson Hornet.

johnny lightning makes one... one release is on the present "small card" [the style that's on pegs now] should be plenty of 'em out there...

should be plenty of 'em out there...

Thanks. I found my classic today. 1962 Chevy. Not your typical racecar. Narrow track width and short wheel base but it looks so cool.

I also picked up 3 Circle Truckers as prizes for the top 3 teams. It seemed appropriate with the NASCAR theme.

I got a few minutes to work on my cars today. They are not finished but its a good start. Maybe these examples will give anyone with questions an idea of what we are going for.

Classic Entry will be a Hot Wheels 1962 Chevrolet Impala with FTE2's #88.

nice progress on the race entrys. Sweet prizes as well,I was wondering if anyone would enter one of those trucks?

Team Fishtail, says he's ready.

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Super birds are my favorite muscle car. Trucks aren't legal only Grand National, Winston Cup, Nextel Cup, or Sprint Cup. NASCAR's top series. That keeps out the pony cars of Nationwide and keeps it to sedans leveling the playing field somewhat in my opinion.

I'm in! May I get #'s 8 & 18 ?

I'm in! May I get #'s 8 & 18 ?

Sure!

I want in on this one too. Nascar cup fan myself. Will get back to you on the numbers. They will NOT be 70 or 71, those have NOT been good numbers for me in the middleweight series, I will get a couple numbers picked by tomorrow.
Will be another fun series.

Got some work done this weekend...still need to sort out weights...and some little details.

a Racing Chapions Pontiac & a Matchbox Lumina. Sorry I must retract my offer on using one of these cars. The Pontiac went to the crap side????? Don't know what gives. Ran great yesterday, Poop today! I will be running the Lumina & salvaging the wheels off the Pontiac.

Traction Event~ diggin' that pink Torino Stocker!

Traction Event~ diggin' that pink Torino Stocker!

PINK!?! dang I really need a photo box with better lighting....I swear it's red

Both are cool. Just wanted to point out that neither would be considered modern era cars. Based on my research the last year a Torino was ran in NASCAR was 1970. Have you got another one you planned on entering for the modern era class?

Modern Era 1972 - present, Richard Petty's 1972 Plymouth Road Runner:

Really? Bummer...my short research said otherwise, but I won't pretend to know anything about Nascar... So your series, your rules...I'll find something else to work on.

Isaac finished in second place to Richard Petty at the ’73 Daytona 500.

I think '70 was the last year Ford gave factory support, but there were for sure Torinos racing after 1970.

I have a [slow] Johnny Lightning almost exactly like that!

As far as NASCARs go, HW beats JL any day. Unless I entered a '60s Cougar or Camaro... Too bad some Camaros weigh too much--but are they acceptable, if they're within the weight limit?

drill some holes in the floor... it may whistle by it would make weight !

The Whistling Cougar! Sounds like a name for a pub.

thanks for the support guys, but it is up to Nascarkeith since it is his event.

Hey, I totally stand corrected. 1970 was the last year the Ford teams got factory support. Torinos and Cyclones did indeed race later. Glad I learned something new today. They have provided pics of your model racing so it's legal! Race it. I wasn't trying to be a stickler for the rules just wanting to make it fair for everyone. Thanks for educating me. Glad to see the interests in this event. Very cool entries so far.

I'd like to see a pic of a Camaro racing in NASCAR's premier series (that isn't photoshopped!).

I'd like to see a pic of a Camaro racing in NASCAR's premier series (that isn't photoshopped!).

So...I take it Camaros were never NASCARs?

To the best of my knowledge Camaros have not run in the top tier of NASCAR. They have always ran larger rear wheel drive sedans until recently when everything went to fwd. Camaros started running in the Nationwide series this year.

If you are interested in NASCAR history check out a book called The Wildest Ride.

Okay, thanks.
Cougars are okay though, right? I've got some of them I might stick numbers on. Unless I break out old Lucky Charms...

Certain years the Cougar ran. Just google and you will find some pics to match up with. I'm on my ipad so it's hard to add pics.

Thanks; and tell me about it--I'm using an iPhone!

The Nightstalker entries are

The Pontiac is back!!! found some clay had squished into a fenderwell. A little scraping out and it beat the Lumina by a fender, 3 outta 5. I'm gonna ship the Lumina alomg with my official entries in case someone needs a 71 or newer entry. Gonna drop in a couple for the prize kitty too. 2 entries, 1 extra just in case & 2 carded for the kitty, boxed and going out Monday. AND I will host a race if it's not the last one. OK?

So The 66 Ford Galaxie Number 121 Is Over Weight Stock. It's A Very Nice Looking Car So I Don't Want To Be Shaving Weight Off Of It In Case I Mess Up So I'm Going To Just Keep It The Way It It's Cause It's AN Actual Replica And Just Turn My Super Bird Into My Nascar Entry.

here are my entries for this event. the red 66 galaxie was my original entry plan but its not going to work out so i swapped it with the green superbird.

I thought a Camaro had run in races and I did a little research. Interesting read as Tiny Lund won with a Camaro, but there was some controversey behind it.

Along with his back-to-back Grand American championships in 1970 and 1971, Lund "won" two Grand National events in 1971 – the Buddy Shuman 100 at Hickory Motor Speedway, and the Wilkes 400 at North Wilkesboro Speedway driving a Camaro Grand American car for Ronnie Hopkins. As the number of entrants for the fields were low, NASCAR allowed Grand American cars to fill out the remaining spots on the grid. Lund controlled the event at Hickory before falling into a win when Richard Petty had problems at North Wilkesboro. Neither of these victories were added to Lund's official win tally, as the legitimacy of whether or not Lund should have been considered a Grand National competitor in these events has been questioned. NASCAR had dictated that if a Grand American car won it would not be credited with the victory; first place points would not be awarded. Despite this, the wins were counted as constructors victories for Chevrolet and starts for Lund.

Isn't Grand National what you did before you moved up to Nascar Cup racing? Kind of like minor league baseball.

I haven't started on my cars yet, just

Neither have I. Figured out which two castings I'm using but just haven't been able to find the time.

Anyone arrive yet?

Isn't Grand National what you did before you moved up to Nascar Cup racing? Kind of like minor league baseball.

No. That was the name before the Winston Sponsorship. Once it became the Winston Cup the lower leve became the Busch Grand National series.

So...are Camaros in then? Also--I don't think they do, but I might as well ask--do Corvette count as NASCARs?

So...are Camaros in then? Also--I don't think they do, but I might as well ask--do Corvette count as NASCARs?

We could do like in NASCAR did that one time, if there aren't enough cars to fill the field then we could allow a Camaro. But then again what is enough. I wouldn't chance trying to bend the rules this time (although in reality I never do!).

You didn't think too differently about Camaros at first...maybe I'll wait and get ISC's opinion.
If the numbers look uncertain to fill a tournament, perhaps a few of us can send Camaros--and whatever else was allowed--to eliminate byes. It's up to NascarKeith if you ask me.

You didn't think too differently about Camaros at first...

It's not about Camaros, it's not about you, it's about following the rules.

The Camaro was not in the 'top tier' class.
It was allowed to run in the top tier class due to poor attendance.

Nothin' gets by you, Carl...
But NK, we could make this just like that scenario--let Grand Americans fill in the blanks, and...I guess not give them all of the points if they happen to win. Do what you want--I understand they weren't normal NASCARs--if just seems like an interesting added touch.
How many cars are in this right now?

Nothin' gets by you, Carl...

Thanks!
When you've raced as long as I have and as many different things as I have you learn to respect the rules.
It's OK to take the rules to the limit, just not beyond (not obviously anyway).

However, I don't see how I'm not respecting the rules. It was a suggestion. I'm not even sure if I'll be entering this series yet, since I'd like to have all of my fast cars in one place for a few minutes.

Since you opened the door I'm gonna' have to walk through it!

You know, I almost thought about putting 'my fastest cars' just for this reason!

So, I have this really nice looking Monte Carlo Concept car I was going to use for the after '72 year, and it dawned on me that I didn't know how much it weighed. Scale at work says 60 grams. So back to square one and finding a new casting.

Our cars are in their haulers and headed West to the first race in Califorina. It's good to get there early and get the cars set up for practice and qualifing....

Oh yea, I'll be on vacation from July 20th through the 29th. Any time before or after that is fine for me, even if it's the last race. No problem.

Have my cars selected and in work. Pre-modern - 1969 Dodge Charger, Modern - 2008 Dodge Charger. Stripped all the paint from the 08 today and will try to match the paint to the same color as the 69, then move on to wheels, axels, weight etc. Hopefully they do much better than my last two series, so far I think I have done nothing more than slow them down.

don't give up, we all built slowpokes before we won a trophy

DADVBALL June 30 will host a race.

ANybody elses interested in hosting?

June 30th is fine with me.

don't give up, we all built slowpokes before we won a trophy

I won't give up Smitty, gonna keep trying and trying. I have a ton of fun selecting and building them for the different series.
I learn a little more each time and imagine I will continue to learn for a very long time still. Theres always something new to learn or try. One thing I think I am going to do when I test them is do 3 or 4 different track setups instead of just the one I have been doing. I'm going to give posting some pics a try in this series also, like you, I really enjoy being able to see all the different builds people do.

Im Interested!

If you don't get any more than what is here I can give it a try, I have different track setups I can use. If I get the photo posting down fairly well I can give it a try. I will let you know for positive before this series starts.

June 9th is good here

A little help please.
Could someone direct me to a list of pre-1970's NASCAR models. I've been looking online and am struggling to match many Hot Wheels castings to this time period.

There are a few examples on page 1 of this thread, including a pic that you posted.
Also, I've googled different years of NASCAR cars, such as a search for "1970 NASCAR cars".
Not all are correct but you get an idea of what to look for.

June 23 should be OK

Yes, Like Carl says. It might be easier to Google photos of "71 NASCAR", "69 NASCAR", ect and look for cars that you recognize as Hot Wheels.

Added KHArvest and moved back DADVBALL back a week.

I'm still not sure what numbers I'll have. Numbers and possibly sponsors are pretty much the only requirements, right (along with the weight limit, of course)? If I can spare it (and it's light enough), I'm thinking about sending a fairly-fast JL Cougar for the early model (unless SD wants it), and decking it out with some stickers. I'll see if I can get FOTF Co. to pay to be the main sponsor.

I'm thinking about sending a fairly-fast JL Cougar for the early model . . .

You've got me curious, in what year(s) did a Cougar race in NASCAR's top division?

Thanks For Adding Me. Really Looking Forward To Hosting My First Event.

go kharv go !

You've got me curious, in what year(s) did a Cougar race in NASCAR's top division?

Actually, I don't know. I was just going by the fact that nobody objected last time I mentioned it. Was it ever a NASCAR?...and while we're on the topic, were Novas or Toronados?

it ever a NASCAR?...and while we're on the topic, were Novas or Toronados?

No, no and no. At least not in NASCARS to division.

No, no and no. At least not in NASCARS to division.

If nobody thinks to ask, why not?...

I know they do; like I said before, I have that Torino, and I also have a really nice Dodge Daytona (which might be too heavy). However, I'm not yet sure if I want to modify either one. And now I think about it, it makes sense Cougars wouldn't be, since they're not really even Fords.

Toronadoes were front wheel drive.

Im entering a 72 Grand Torino and a 70 Super bird. They look ok with numbers but I dont have any sponsor decals......Stroller Racing is my only sponsor....

Gonna dip out of this event guys... Sorry.

Just Dropped Off Cars At The Post Office Now

Okay my cars are lubed and weighted and numbered. Is there something else I need to do?

Got my 80's Buick drilled out today. Wheels and chassis fitted hit the garage catch all cabinet for the spray paint. So it will hit the scales and then the paint shop

Okay my cars are lubed and weighted and numbered. Is there something else I need to do?

You're going to have to mail them.

So you're not going to take my word on just how fast they are?......

Got some cool stickers in the snail mail today. Tried to send a pm thank you but the puter says you don't exist. Got my cars all ready now. Thanx

** Quick number switch **

Weber Cabin Racing- 7 & 19
Rally Case Racing- 26 & 91

We're getting really excited about this event. Were sending some strong cars in ...I hope

I can brag that I'm sending in cars I own......

Do we send in prize cars or something??

I've gotta get mine mailed. Got home late last night and still recuperating from the long weekend of rain and racing at Talladega.

Prizes aren't required but I'm sure they would be appreciated.

Hope that finish was worth it! I've watched it several times now. Love when an unexpected driver comes out on top!

Have our cars arrived?

Hope that finish was worth it! I've watched it several times now. Love when an unexpected driver comes out on top!

Yeah it was great! A lot darker than it looked on TV. We went down Thursday night and left Sunday night. I watched all 3 races. Good times!

Have our cars arrived?

I don't have them here in front of me, but I'm pretty sure cars from Nightstalker have arrived. My wife said she picked up a box at the post office today, and there was a tag for us to pick up a box that was to big for our little box.

I'll sort it out and confirm who's cars have arrived.

Shipping the cars out this morning

Stroller's Racing's cars will be shipped out tomorrow. I hope I do a bit better in this tournament.

still haven't received my middle weight cars would have liked to rework that 71 plymouth. popped a new one open to start from scratch.

My Cars Should Be There By Now

I have a few boxes that were mailed here. I'm having big time internet connection problems, but everything is going according to schedule... if you don't hear from me...everything is going according to schedule and as planned. Thanks!

TeamHalfFast's cars went out today.

Mine will be going out tomorrow or Friday. Here are a few pics of my entries.

In order for the decals to look good I went with white. I should have remembered though to test them before painting as I've had to touch up various chips. One would think that 4-5 coats of Future floor wax might prevent chipping but I guess not.
Lesson learned.

Those stock cars look dynamite! Good work on the decals.

Just got my 2-56 tap, #50 drill bit and button head screws in the mail, so I can start building my cars now -got tired of my cars coming apart during the series.

Very Awesome Decal WorK. Cars LooK Great.

great looking decals... good tip on floor wax not being the trick.

Three more boxes of cars have arrived.

Great looking cars db. It's been crazy wrapping up the school year. I gotta get mine in the mail.

Should have paint on the roadrunner this morning and mail out this evening.

Thanks for the compliments! They will be in the mail later today.

Sweet rides, DvB!
Sorry to say, SD and I have decided against this event for now, between the end of school, being sick, and wanting to get the whole Top 64 back for a nice, big tournament.
Good luck to everybody, and I hope there's another NASCAR series soon!

Mine will be shipping out tomorrow morning. Wanted to send them last week, there was a death in the family so didn't get around to it. I think they should make it in plenty of time for the racing. Both are mopar, a 69 dodge charger and a 08 dodge charger, tried to stay with the same theme on both, "color, decals, etc.)
The 69 weighs in at 55g and the 08 at 56g, both are a kind of metalflake blue.

Awesome entries Dvb, they look great along with looking fast !!!

Lets go racin boys !!

Mine went in the mail Saturday along with 3 Circle Truckers to be sent to the top 3 in the series.

My cars don't look nearly as good as I had hoped and I doubt they are fast but I'm looking forward to the racing.

And thanks for the compliment. I'm hoping they are as fast as they look. lol

Mine went Priority today. Didn't get to the PO Sat. because of work. I have the tracking # so I'll keep an eye on them.

My pair of Chevrolets will go out tomorrow. No time to test these babies, so I'm crossin' my fingers on how fast they'll be.

T.L.D.... do you need more #s ? ...PM..me ...

Thanks Smitty, I'll check when I get up to the track. Pretty sure I'm stocked up.

I know I'm good for this race since one of the few requirements was for people to number their cars NASCAR style.

Tracking says the expected delivery for mine is today. Being that you are a few hours behind us there's still a couple of hours left for it to hit your post office. Should be there for tomorrow though.

Latest check on my cars says the sorting is complete and expected delivery is today.

As of 3:45 pm today it says "Delivered". Glad they made it.

Can't wait for this to get started!

Getting psyched for this one. Very unique race, can't wait to see the Line Up pics!

Thanks everyone.

wow...about 22 cars with ftes, 2 with fte IIs, 2 blues, couple of yellow letters.... holiday racing.... GO RDR GO !

TLD, as usual fantastic team shots!

Everlings, that Buick looks BEEFY! very cool.

Carl, interesting wheel choice on #11...again...taking notes

JDC, blue wheels....more notes.....

ALso all cars roof numbers are read from the driver side except one team. JDC's roof number are read from the passenger side! THis may be the deciding factor.

Only two cars dared to have to have weights on the outside of their cars. They are from two different teams and both coincidentally are '71 Road Runners! The only '71 Road Runners entered.

Also something that stood out,,,every single race I've ever been involved with has had some Sloppy Jalopies entered. Feels a little weird not seeing having them in their but we'll get you next time Smitty!

Beautiful pictures as always TLD!
I think I've seen that Yellow Chevelle before Carl...
I love the Stroller and DvB teams, great looking competitors!

not to worry T.L.D., I picked up some popcorn...
so, gentlemen,..... start your engines !

How can we have a race without Mr. Smitty!!?? Just won't be the same.
I guess you deserve a bit of a rest now and again. Enjoy your popcorn, and see ya at the Builder's Cup event.

EDIT ; I mixed up the car owners... duh

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

The final four cars are some fast ones for sure. Also worth mentioning is Strollers '73 Superbird. This was some of the closest racing of the day between the bird and the eventual winner, Traction Event.

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

ALso about half way through the race I was starting to think Everlings Gold Buick might end up winning the whole thing. Then it met up with the Fish Tail Impala and an epic battle ensued,

Earlier the Fish Tail Impala took out JDC442. That must have been the upset of the day. That Impala is a monster.

I'll be racing the pre '72 cars today. I hope to get the photos posted tonight it will probably be very late for you east coasters...

Very cool, us Michigan boys are pumped! Looking forward to the next set of cars!!!

WTG Traction Event.....Maybe next time......

Things aren't looking too good for my Pre'72 Goat. No matter what I did it was slower than the Lumina. I thought the Lumina was pretty decent and it didn't make it past the first round. Ya just never know.

Good Job Traction Event.

Yeeeeeeehaw! Feels great to take down Carl's speedy Chevelle that crushed my dreams time and time again in my first mail in event! Thanks TLD, great photos as always!

PS. Whose keeping points an how is it bein scored?

Well Done McJ. Nice car. You did say you was going to be more competitive this time around. I was right there with you though....

PS. Whose keeping points an how is it bein scored?

I was wondering that myself.

I suggest 1 point per win.

Congrats to Mcjiggles....

TLD, did you run the two winners against each other? just curious....

also nice runs for Stroller, everlings, and Dadvball.....moving on up.....

next stop, the great state of Washington! JDC Raceway Park.

TLD, did you run the two winners against each other? just curious....

SHoot! I didn't even think of that. I did the racing on two different days. The cars are all packed up now. I was in a hurry to get them ready for the mail because of the holiday it's a short mail week, but should have no trouble getting to JDC442 in time. Cars will go out at lunch time today.

next stop, the great state of Washington! JDC Raceway Park.

Can't wait to race 'em!!

big congrats out to the "targets" - traction event and webber cabin... you'll recognize them by their tail lights !

Well if nobody want to keep track of the points, I dont mind doing it. If i get time today I'll get working on it but we'll have to see.

Also, TLD. I should have seen it before, but I have family coming into town the weekend of the 16th. If its alright with Nightstalker, could we switch weeks?

I was wondering that myself.

I suggest 1 point per win.

Any points for bye rounds?

Any points for bye rounds?

Do you mean if a car gets a bye, they should get a point too? I don't think so.

Before I start making the points, could i get a list of the entrants cars. I dont know all the models, do someone have a list? Let me know, thanks!

I volunteer to do a king of the Hill at Everlings Drag Strip and taco bar.

could i get a list of the entrants cars. I dont know all the models, do someone have a list?

I think I can sort one out. Feel free to join in. I know most but not all those late model cars...I put the pre 72 cars in#26 Ford Fairlane
#91 Chevy

Thanks TLD, I'll see if cliffordshaw can give me some help filling in the empty spots. I'll hopefully get working on it tonight

Congrats to WCR on winning the Pre '72 race! Looks like the Fords are gonna be tough to beat.

I'm ok with that 'cause I'm a Ford guy. Unless they're beating up on my entries.

My #25 is a Chevy Lumina. Not sure what year though.

My Car Models are
#28 = 1969 Charger

I seen there are 14 GM entries, 10 Mopar entries, and 4 Fomoco entries. So far, the Fords have dominated.
and my two mopars are dead last,

on to the next race.

Did anyone else notice that the same casting won both classes in California?

Did anyone else notice that the same casting won both classes in California?

Well, I did.

Before that I was confused by Super Birds in both the pre and post '72 classes. One Super Bird is listed as 1973 by it's owner and the others are entered in the older class. The '73 Birds existed so I guess it's legit. I assumed that was the case with the Torino as well and didn't bother to research any thing. I bet that the Torino is a bit more specific in regards to what year it is, but I'm just rolling with it man.

http://hotwheels.wikia.com/wiki/Torino_Stocker

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

I would say at the earliest those are '73 Torinos maybe '74...it was a different body style before 1973.

There's an old saying around Redline Derby regarding the bending of the rules. "It doesn't really matter, until you win".

Races have been run. Posting results photos and brackets tonight.

Is this the correct address?

Nice job hosting JDC!

no horse in this race,
but I like the way 442 did the play by play, pix of the cars as they were when they crossed the finishline.
shows by how much, and saves on typing ...
I may see if I can do that with the middle heet of the trophy challenge... fingers crossed !

Thanks guys! I can't do a video without any video editing software, but I try to put on a good show. Yes, it's a ton of fun to do, but it also requires quite a lot of planning and configuring to make sure everything is in order and I don't leave anything out or give away results too soon. Besides, I also have to follow TLD's show and he always puts up some great photos of the teams as well as the California results along with pics of his brackets, so I don't want to disappoint.

Yes correct address.

Congrats to Stroller and Everlings on the victories! Great job on the pics and play-by-play to JDC! That was an awesome idea using the track to show how the cars finished.

It's nice to see my GTO being competitive, but a bummer seeing the Lumina blow it's engine these past two weeks. I thought the Goat was actually going to be the Dog.

Yes correct address.

Package is on the way. Tracking number is 9505 5108 8243 3154 3713 07

What are the remaining tracks like? I may need to change my suspension. Or switch to my short track car...

Round #1 in the books and it went down this way. The #47 car come outta the Chute like it was shot outta a Cannon...BOTH ROUNDS!!! Leaving the #16 scratchin' his.....Helmet. The #11 fell to the #9 car in 2 first by a car then a fender, maybe another run woulda tied them up, oh well. The # 68 was a strainin' but put the Home Town Boys #8 onto the trailer in 2, first by a fender then relying on the JUDGE cuz the 2nd round was too close to call by eye. 00 watched the taillights of the 25 car for 2 in a row by a car length. The same for the 7 going down to the 138 car. Finishing up the 1st round by the 67 car walkin' away from the 3 in 2 by 2.
OK, here's the sheet and the 2nd round match ups w/ remaining group photo.

Great time to visit the Snack Bar, gotta go eat a late Lunch, be back soon.

Right-E-O, The Quarters went this way, Again the 47 car right outta the gate, but the 40 car didn't make it as easy as the 47's first round. Only lost by about a car length in both rounds. The 68 won in 2 by about a car but the #9 lookin' good, with the 23 ace n out the 25 the same way. The 138 car won by about a fender in both rounds sending the 67 home. Both lanes seem to be dead nuts even!!! Great Racing & havin' a great time!
The latter for the Semi Final

great play by play....thanks Nightstalker!!!!

Yowwee!! The 47 almost rundown twice by the 68, but the Big Bird held on for the win in 2. 138 takin' down the 23 for a shot at the Hemi Hauler. Makin the Final look a like this.

Enjoyin' a "Stawker Berger" at Mel's, But to get that burger it took everything that Buick had the ward off that Bird eekin' it out by less than a fender in 2. Whew, Great racen' Everyone. Congratulations to Everlings racing! Well done!

Again Round 1 Startin' with a Big Boom! The 33 car winnin' by a shadow both runs!!! The 69 blowin' out the 13, the 51 over the 18 by a car in 2. the 19 taking out the 42 by 1/2 car in 2. #1 livin' up to it's number (so far) by about 3/4 in 2. The 88 lost to the 24 by about 3/4 in 2, but I was impressed on how that 62 Chevy ran.
Results Please

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

Quarter Finals rounded out like this. The 33 buried the 26 with NO CONTEST! All I can say is, WOW! the 69 wins over the 51 in 5, a tough 5. If one of those guys washed their car it woulda been over in 2. The 28 car ate dust from the 19, yup, on asphalt. With another nail biter, the 1 car winnin' 3 outta 4 for the win. Getting real good now!!

Let Me See If I Can Move Some Cars around

A fix to this may be to have a "Race Log" that stays in the box as the cars travel showing byes and such.

Yes Carl That Would Be Nice. Where I Messed UP Is I Forgot To Look At The bys

Let Me See If I Can Move Some Cars around

Not on my account..I'm just whining....this is the luck of the draw.

I do like Carls Idea of a race log...

Ok Easy Enough Fix.
23 Will Race 7 And 00 Will Get The Bye.

I do like Carls Idea of a race log...

Or Just Send The Bracket Like Nightstalker Did It Helped Except I Didn' Look At The Bye Haha.

no horse in this race...
some here have the skills to get 10 or more different "random pairing brackets" printed...
look to see that a different car gets a bye on each chosen bracket...
slide them into a ziplock bag and include them with the race cars...
then each host just grabs one, doesn't matter which one...
just throwing it out there... [spit balling]

here comes the results. this was a very fun series to run being that i am a NASCAR fan. sorry guys there will be no pictures because my computer took a dump.

138 vs 47 - Believe it or not, these two went at it for 17 races. Yes, I said 17 races. The smallest amount of victory was by a nose. The largest was by 3/4 car length, and that only happened twice. I thought it was never going to end.

68 vs 47

Ok, you though 17 races was a lot? Don't know, but we may have set a new record in this one. These two cars took 25 races, alternating tracks, until somebody finally won two in a row. I thought the track was burning up after running a total 42 races between 4 cars in the last two rounds.

Any way, the WINNER of the NASCAR Stars "Modern" era race, in Seekonk, MA is,

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

#47 - Stroller Racing!!!!

Congrats to Stroller Racing on the Victory, and to Team Fishtail for coming in second in both the Classic and Modern races! Nice job everyone!

Thanks for letting me host. This was a fun series, great cars, and glad I got to do it. As soon as I can gather up some boxes I'll start getting cars back to everyone.
If someone can explain how to access the address database I'd appreciate it. I don't have a google account and everytime I click the link it starts me all over again. But I'm not really that savvy when it comes to things like this anyway. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Dadvball, I just emailed you an Excel copy of the database.

Thanks Carl!

???

???

Confused?

A tad. Who won the tournament?

Carl, will you be able to finish filling in the points? If not, I can probably give it a go. Weber had done it up to now, and I'm not sure how the points were given in this one.

I think it was 1 point per win.....

I think it was 1 point per win.....

Okay, easy enough. Done.
TEAM:
Champion --Stroller Racing!!!

MODERN:
1st Everlings #138
T-2nd Traction Event #23 and Stroller #47
CLASSIC:
1st Weber Cabin #19
2nd Stroller #51
3rd Fishtail #69

That was what they used to call a DSL win. Which means a "Dumb S*** Luck" win.

Congratulations to McJiggles for winning the "Classic" portion.

Congratulations to Everlings for winning the "Modern" potion.

Congrats Stroller Racing on winning the overall Team Championship!

Congrats also to Mcjiggles for being the "Classics" Champ, and to Everlings for taking the "Modern" Crown!

way 2 go RDR racers... the stroller strikes!... and talk about an exit... rock on jiggy !

This was quite a unique race -very cool. I was really impressed with the car designs in this one, as well as how fast the top dogs were.
BIG congrats to Stroller for building the best Team, and in my opinion one of the best designed as well -good looking cars!
Everlings and Weber Cabin: way to get your 1st Tournament wins! We should have raced the two cars against each other to see who was the fastest. I think I'll just separate the categories in the "Mail-In History" in this one to show both classes like I did for the Feather Weights II race.

We should have raced the two cars against each other to see who was the fastest.

Thanks for reminding me. I did run them against each other. In a best of five match Stroller's #47 won the first two races by a nose and the third race by a half car length.

Something about these Superbirds and Daytonas. They won several races by a "nose".

The two cars I was referring to were Weber Cabin's #19 and Everlings #138 -the two champions, to see who was the overall top dog.

I haven't packed any up yet so I'll do it in the AM and post the results.

Good times! Thanks for seeing my idea through. There should be 3 circle truckers to go out as prizes to the top 3 overall teams. My cars have FTE wheels that where given to me so please help me pay it forward and send them out as prizes as well.

I have the Circle Truckers and a few other random cars that were sent as prizes. If it's not too much trouble you top three teams message me your mailing addresses. I'm way behind on mailing out some previous prizes as well.

Congrats Stroller Racing on winning the overall Team Championship!

Yes, good job guys!

Thank you so much. Thing are coming along in the Everling garage.

Congrats to The individual champs, and team champ. Solid builds all around Team Fishtail is very excited to be on the podium and so am I.

Sorry I didn't end up being able to do this earlier. The race between Everling's #138 Buick and WCR's #19 Ford to determine the fastest of the two individual Champs was run a short time ago.

And it was another nailbiter.

1st race - #138 by a nose
2nd race - #19 by a bumper
3rd race - #138 by a nose
4th race - #19 again by a bumper
5th race - #138 by a fender
6th race #19 by a nose
Thank goodness for the finish line flag.
7th race #138 by a bumper
8th race - #138 barely by a nose!

Winner of the NASCAR Stars Classic Champ vs Modern Champ race, at the DVB Raceway, is Modern Champ Everling's Buick "The Beast" Stocker!
Congrats to Everlings on the victory, and also to WCR for making it a dogfight!
Sorry, but I don't have an individual pic of the Buick.

McJiggles car is one of the great ones, but Everlings Buick is phenomenal.

Congrats to Stroller for the championship !!! Weber Cabing and Everlings for Division wins. These cars were all great builds.
Me, well I am really surprised that I ended up with a point, with everyones cars leaving mine in the dust I expected no points at all, I really slowed these two cars down. I have quite a choice of builds for next time around though, so maybe will do better in the next Nascar Challenge if you all run one again. Was fun no matter where I placed.

Congrats To All You Big Top Finishers. It Was Fun Hosting As Well As Watching.

Cars are all finally boxed and ready to go. I'll be getting to the post office in the next day or so.

Thanks DVB! That must have been quite a chore with all the entries. You're a good man

Our cars returned today! THANKS!!!!

Ok, half the group's cars were mailed on Wednesday and are beginning to show up. I wasn't able to mail them all at the same time as I had forgotten to bring the money with me. My hours are such that I can get to the PO before or after work & have to try on a 30 minute lunch break. Missed it today so I'll be getting the rest of your cars in the mail Sat. morning. Thanks for your patience.
