Event rules

Each entrant must enter two cars. A Before and an After Car. Every Entrant can select the car/s he wants to run you don't all have to race the same model of car.

All cars dimensions: Height 1 1/8 inches , Length 4 inches, Width 1 1/2 inches. Must fit on standard orange track. Weight 57 grams or less.

Stock Cars: must be entered still in the original package unopened. No FTE wheels of any type are allowed on the Before Cars. Any type of Before car can be submitted, such as gassers, dragsters, fantasy, pickups, vans, Nascar, whatever.

After Cars: Must have started out as the exact same model of the Before Car. This includes having been made by the same manufacturer. Here the difference stops. All After Cars have to have had their rivets drilled out to start with as a minimum modification. FTE wheels are allowed on After Cars. Altering bodies such as chopping, channeling, slicing and hogging out wheel openings is allowed. Raising or lowering is allowed. The After Cars should be recognizable for what they started out as.

Races will be Before Cars vs Before Cars and then After Cars vs After Cars in single elimination racing. There will also be a race or should I say a comparison of each Entrants Before and After Cars. This will be one Entrants Before and After Cars competing with each other. The winner will be the Entrant whose After Car beats his Before Car for the fastest speed difference or greatest time difference. Which ever system has the particular host has. BTW if a car does not finish a heat in the comparison portion of the racing then the race team of that car gets a DNF and zero points

Scoring is one point per win in the single elimination racing .
3 points for a win in the comparison competition. 2 point of second place and 1 point for third place

Each Entrant races his cars against each other. the time or speed difference is recorded. When all the Entrants have raced then the team with the greatest difference in time or speed will win First Place. The team with the second best time or speed difference takes second place, third best of course takes third place. This placing for the comparison competition only. The races between Before Cars and the races between After Cars is a whole different thing. Each team gets points for wins in both the 2 races and the comparison competition. Highest score wins. The winner of the tournament is the one with the most total points after all venues are run.

A concise interpretation of the rules by Traction Event,: The “stock” car will run one time vs the modified car. This will yield the speed difference in the two cars. If the Modified car is faster it records a time, the car with the greatest difference ( most improvement over the stock) wins the firsts portion of this event.

The second race has just the modified cars racing head to head for wins.

The third race has just stock cars racing head to head for wins.

Traction Event got it right even though I may run races in a different order.

I'm asking that each entrant declare what car they will be running. There is no rule that two teams can not run the same car but it might be more interesting if we all ran something different.

How about hole shot ?, cars are here !
Stroller
Hole Shot is in.

Sounds like a cool challenge!

I WILL BE GLAD TO RUN AND TIME THE BEASTS ON THE "BIG BEN" TRACK... GO STROLLER GO !

Awesome race idea! I'm currently restoring a 1982 Chevy Corvette, so maybe my entries could be the 1982 Corvette

Do you have pics of the before?

I am putting Cops and Robbers on the back burner and am going to run this tournament in June.....I will run an event using my radar gun for speed comparisons between the before and after cars. Along with double elimination racing of before vs before and after vs after cars. Smitty is going to do timed comparisons....that right Smitty?

Cops and Robbers will run, just later this year.

yup... but single eliminations for my heet... gridiron time ?

Ok cool.

Do you have pics of the before?

I do actually! I have been taking progress pics as I build it, and I'm planning on posting them along with before & after shots when it is finished

ok... is this '82 vette a 1/64 scale ?...or a gonna be burger joint chick magnet ?

THE DATES ARE SET FOR THE GASSERS SERIES 4/27 TO 5/25...THANKS HOSTS...
6/1 TO 6/ ? , NOW WIDE OPEN FOR THE B & A SERIES HOSTS... STROLLER, HOW MANY HEETS ? ...
I THINK YOU NEED A 6, OR AT LEAST A 4 LANE TO GIVE THE COPS A CHANCE TO GO "SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT" ON THE RASCALS...
CHECK COMMENT # 1 THIS TOPIC FOR STROLLER'S RULES UPDATES ;

It's a 1/64 scale, Hot Wheels calls it the "80's Corvette", but I think it's true model year is 1982.

New rules added on the first posting by me.

These parts need some work. I am understanding you to mean each builder will race their cars against each other - so their would be a 2nd place, but not a 3rd place.

a 3rd / 4th requires an extra race between both bracket's semi losers.... I always forget to run that one...

Stroller
so do I...lol

This sounds like it could be really cool.

Will this be a team event where points of both your cars will be combined to show team standings OR do you want these two categories to be completely separate where we'd end up with two winners (Before and After)?

I like the idea of combining the points so the overall winner is the person who entered the two fastest cars.

YOU ANSWERED MY QUESTION IN THE ABOVE POST -PERFECT.

I'd be willing to keep points on this event if you're looking for someone to do that.

This will be a team effort using combined points but there will be awards for fastest individual cars. Only one champion though.

Yes I would like it if you ran the scoring.

New info on post number One.....

Sorry Stroller, I'm still not decided on what to run yet. Is it OK if I do some testing n tuning before I say what I'm running?

Sorry Stroller, I'm still not decided on what to run yet. Is it OK if I do some testing n tuning before I say what I'm running?

Of course. I haven't even started on anything....

Thanks for the update and I am with you on the rules update, but have a question still.

In the new section you say the biggest difference in time or speed is the 1st place winner in the comparison race portion, then 2nd and then 3rd.

But earlier you note that the "after" version haven beaten the "before" version establish the time/speed difference.

I too would expect that, but what happens if a before version ends up being a flyer and beats an after car? Would that time difference be acceptable in the speed/time comparison standings or would it count as a no time difference and be disqualified?

Well that's an interesting thought, but the idea of modifying a car is to make it better. So if your Before Car beats your After Car that would mean you would get zero points.......

so I should pick a car that is very slow stock, and then hop it up to get the biggest difference between the two ? ...
i'm clueless.

so I should pick a car that is very slow stock, and then hop it up to get the biggest difference between the two ? ...clueless.

You could but this may not give you a chance to win the Before part of the tournament.... .......

I really thought that your best bet is to have 2 competitive cars to get the most total points. Yet Smitty might have a point -if someone's After car is super speedy and gets points in each After race and then totally smokes it's Before counterpart getting 3 more points in the comparison race, it just might get enough points by itself to take the championship.

Well someone could try that, but then again so could everyone. The Tactics in this tournament are going to be very interesting....

Sorry guys once again I have to change the starting date of the Before and After tournament. I found out today that on June 8th I will be across the state at my granddaughters High School graduation.....See Post #1 for the changes.

Can you get them to reschedule?

Tactics indeed!

Another factor in that will be the total number entries (thus the # of bracket rounds and whether or not we have race to get in heats as well).

Interesting interplay of factors and how to tune your after car - based on an unopened blister pack before car!

Stroller maybe an evil genius for devising this series!

I like that combo, low CG makes it faster (I think).

I have never won a race with that combination...but that's just me.

Hmmm.... I guess they're better for open-track racing then. In the DCRL the Race Aces with Plastic on Metal designs + nickel plated axles usually do great.

I dont think anyone here will hold you to your choice - maybe we can get a ruling from the "organizer"

Will these work?

Looks good to me.....

For my own clarification.

The “stock” car will run one time vs the modified car.

How’d I do?

That is my understanding as well.

I think you nailed it Traction.

Stroller could use that in his first post as a race description summary

Hey I'm old and senile....yeah that's it.................

I'm in! Unfortunately I can't volunteer to host as I don't have any way to time the races.

New info on Page #1....go take a look............

There is one spot for hosting left. If you have a track with a timer or speedometer or radar gun and you would like to host on June 30th........Let me know.....

I wasn't paying attention to the dates... I have a race with the ROD AND CUSTOM CRUISERS club the weekend of june 22st... they have the show building at the fair grounds... I have run our races there before... can you shuffle the deck to set me up for that weekend ? ...LMK

Yep as long you don't test the before car.....

New entrant and schedule change back on Post #1...

I can also make it work for Weber Cabin Racing by finding an in-package match to one of his previous mods.

Cool...

The comparison race in this tournament is going to use the new Hot Wheels Speedometer rather than the radar gun that I was going to use at first. The HWS will be much easier to use than the radar gun even though the radar gun maybe more accurate......In this case it is the comparison that counts.....Thanks for listening.

hmmmm....
"short order cooking" ... can I enter the open top bone shaker as the stocker ?, I have more of them and like them less than the hardtop... I cut the hardtop body because it was loose in the peanut jar... duh !...

I RAN THE SAME BONE SHAKER HARDTOP [30.G'S] AND AN OPEN TOP B S [36.8 G'S] DOWN A 48" TRACK AND THROUGH THE SPEEDOMETER A DOZEN TIMES... OPEN TOP = 381 TO 389 MPH...
ALL THE SPEEDS STAYED WITHIN 8 MPH...FOR EACH CAR... OPEN IS ABOUT 8 MPH FASTER...
VERY SHORT WHEELBASE FTE BONE SHAKER [56.8 G'S] WAS A CONSISTANT 80 MPH FASTER... 450 ISH, MPH...

Smitty,

Can you attach a "board" on the end of the shorty (to make it equal length to the stocker) and test again. Dont know how sensitive the sensor is but that may give a speed correction between the two cars.

Be interesting to see how a chrome (mirror) car does...

I need to get my own - to many things to do with it!!!!

I love that Shaker Smitty, I can't wait to beat everyone with it at Before & After

how about a duct tape tail fin ?

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

The thing about shorter cars appearing to be faster is no big deal because everyone is playing under the same rules so you can all make shorter cars, but I have found that shorter cars don't race nearly as well as longer cars head to head. Choi8ces choices....

Any updates needed to the rules or are we set on this one?

BTW - The local Target has a buy one get one 50% off on all Hot Wheels products (two speedos?) through Sunday - don't know if it is nation wide or just locally!

Throwing this out there, what if the packaged car is opened up and say a wheel is stuck and won't make it down the track. How are you going to compare the differnce between the two?

There maybe more rules added. It is almost two months to the first race......Before cars should not be opened before the first race. I will check for stuck wheels and such.....I'm thinking of giving all Before cars a couple runs down the track to check them out and fix an thing bad....

I went ahead and built 2 sets of cars for this event, both about the same in performance, modified that is, now have to decide what set to send out. An edge to the Charger being it is a Hot Wheels and the Challenger a Matchbox knowing the Charger will beat the Challenger in stock trim.

Picked up two new speedometers this afternoon...

Diecast Cars, Hot Wheels, Matchbox

soon most of us will know which of our lanes is fastest... and by how much... handy

Like they did for GGG doe anybody want to run more than 1 team of cars? 2 teams 3 teams , more??

hmmmmmmmmm...........

As long as everyone else is in approval of the change...

I have another team or two I can gather up - to push it to a 32 car field.

I think there are 12 teams so far, so if everyone entered two teams. We would have 48 cars. How would that effect the bracket structure and the points?

Gonna have to go with the Charger, save the Challenger for another day.

I will go 2 teams thus I won't have to choose.

2 teams sounds good... but it will be a ton of cars... series co-ordinator ?

Wow, that could mean a lot of cars. Could rival the last Middleweights series -I think we had 46 cars in that one.

Stroller are we back to just entering one team (a before and an after car)?

(I wasnt able to quote your post, but it is a few back...)

I did say I thought one team per player but what do you guys think.  Do you want to enter more than one team of cars?  Please respond.............Stroller

I have up to 3 before/after car teams that I can send in...

Milton-Fox
Now it's like having to pick your favorite kid!

Ok then, 1 before and 1 after car per entry......nuff sed.

JDC442
Makes things easier.

OK, Back to just the Charger.

Lots of Mail-In activity right now.

Busy preparing for the Bare Muscle series -trophy and car testing.

Eager to see how the first Gassers race turns out.

Getting ready to start looking for a good candidate for this B and A tournament.

Too much fun!!  Great to be back in the action!

KandORacing
Glad to have you back racing!

Anybody want to host the 4th and final B@A race on July 6th.

We want SMILIES!!.   Well I do since I don' have a good vocabulary.   : )

Stroller, as long as all goes well @ my first hosting, I'd be happy to host the final. Finals are better for me cause I'm @ church on Sunday, so worse case scenario I take Monday off from work, run the race, and I don't have to rush the cars off to the next venue.

Okay D6 you got it......I will sign you up.

Anyone know how to edit something.....???

Stroller
What?

CLICK THE "PENCIL IN A BOX" TO THE RIGHT TO EDIT A COMMENT...THE THUMBS-UP ? ...

I'm in.

KandORacing
Awesome!

What are you trying to edit?

Stroller, since no FTE wheels are allowed on the before car, are Color Shifter wheels allowed? They have nickel plated axles as well, but I just had to ask.

That's another good question.  I think not, so everything is on the level for everyone.

Milton-Fox
There must be a dozen different wheel types used in the Color Shifter Series. Are you banning all of them?

I am going to be gone on my second honeymoon for 10 days and may not be near a computer I can use so hold anymore questions you have.................Stroller :> )

2nd honey moon FOR 10 days, or 2nd H moon IN 10 days ?

got that right....lol

Can't make up my mind. Drilled a few cars today and narrowed it down to one of these two. Guess I will build both and just see which one is faster and send that one in. This was my son's pick.

This is the one I like.

Guess we will see which turns out faster. Don't think it is going to matter much. You guys are fast. With out me having to go back and reread and try to figure it out, do we want our car in the blister to be really slow and our custom fast or does it matter what the unopened car does? I don't remember what was decided.

Traction-Event
first post has a good shakedown of the rules
tnfishdaddy
I decided to go back and reread the thread. Guess I should have done that before asking here lol.
tnfishdaddy
Turns out I don't have any FTE wheels to fit the wagon. I took the originals off and buffed the axle and put them back in.
tnfishdaddy
Probably won't help but I will test it anyways.
Stroller
do what you think will work......

The comparison match race makes it interesting.  You need to make the after car faster or pick a slower before car for the greatest differences, but the slow car still has to race against the other before cars!  So do you go with a known fast before car and a small difference in speed/time or race wins! Or a slow before car that may not do well in the races against others...

model40fan
no rocket scientists in the S J Garage, picked fast, built fast.

Work has begun in the shop...

Did a little building today. Built the SS Wagon up to 58.7 grams. Did not have FTE wheels to fit it so took wheels off and tried buffing the axle. I also built up the GTO to 58.8 grams. It had FTE wheels on it already. Just raced them against each other. Turns out the SS Wagon should be called the Lead Sled because it is SSSLLLOOOWWW. The GTO blew it's doors off. I grabbed a couple of my faster cars and tried the GTO against them. Beat them all but it was close. The are all stock cars with no weight added. I grabbed a Way2Fast we had customized. The Way2Fast lived up to it's name. So long story short, it's back to the drawing boards.

Question, is it always smart to get the weight as heavy as possible or could this hurt a car?

KandORacing
At this weight, I don't think there is a such thing as too much.

It varies.  More weight on a steep or longer incline is usually faster going downhill, but may slow up sooner on a long flat run out.  On a short shallow incline it may never get going fast enough to catch a lighter car before the finish line on a shorter track.

The stop box is also a factor as the heavier car will of course hit harder - possible breakage/misalignment mishaps.

On shorter tracks the release point I believe is the most crucial factor - combination of the "post" and front end design.

picked up this carry case this weekend... 8.75" X 7.75" , looks like a B n A series prize... stroller ?

plexi-glass case, nice handle and latch set up...

Stroller
Yes Sloppy it's really cool.

H&H Racing has been extremely busy building and testing over the past
several weeks preparing for the Before and After race that is coming
up. Now H&H Racing was built around American muscle cars and the love
for them. Unfortunately, H&H Racing has been having a little trouble
with their main mechanic. The work he has been turning out lately has
been subpar. Testing at Rocky Top Raceway has proven that the H&H Race
team seems to be sputtering a little. The gassers that the team sent
in for the races going on right now are not running up to H&H Racing's
standards. A spectator at the last race was quoted as saying, "I have
been coming to the races for a lot of years. I have seen plenty of
slow cars over the years. If these two cars sent in by H&H Racing were
going any slower, they would be going backwards."

The owner of H&H Racing has decided to try something drastic to stir
things up. For the past two days, H&H Racing has been doing some top
secret testing in the garage and at Rocky Top Raceway. H&H Racing is
happy to announce that testing of the new car has been fantastic. This
is by far, the fastest car to ever come out of our garage. We are not
sure if this car is fast enough to win but we are very excited to get
this car to the race track and competing in next months race. There
will be a press conference at 9:00 pm eastern time to announce and
show off the new car. All we will say at this time is that we have
left our roots behind on this car.  H&H Racing's first love will
always be American muscle cars but to be competitive, we are willing
to look at other options.

Dadvball
Love the background story!

Tonight's press conference will be short. First, H&H Racing would like to thank everyone for attending tonight's press conference. As mentioned earlier tonight, H&H Racing will be leaving it's roots for the Before and After race series. We are proud to unveil our new car for the series. All the way from Italy.

those look like fte IIs ... read 1st comment this topic
KandORacing
Smitty, the stocker version dosen't have actual FTEs. He isn't breaking any rules.

OKay guys , I am back after a ten day Oregon Coast tenth anniversary with my lovely Wife, Clayfeat.  We had a blast saw.  We saw the Spruce Goose in  McMinnville Or.  The Newport Aquarium.  Whales,  Tillamook Cheese Factory,  Pacific Ocean, The D River, the shortest river in the world, and at the Hood River Aero Auto Museum I saw dozens vintage airplanes and about 100 vintage cars, some brands I never heard of like a "Brush" automobile. I have pics I will post soon and BTW FTE IIs are FTEs.............Stroller.......It's good to be back.

Sounds like a great vacation! We've been to the Evergreen Air Museum twice, and the Spruce Goose is a neat site to see. You could have seen the worlds messiest house while you were at it, only 30 miles from McMinnville :D (I mean my house Haha)

Stroller
I didn't realize that we could have had lunch or something....

so you need the race cars by the 11th ? ...

Thanks.
tnfishdaddy
Thanks.

Here's mine.  I forgot to take a before pic of the "After" car and had already started operating.  I like the width and the wheelbase so I got my fingers crossed.  Not sure if I will paint it yet 'cause I like the purple.  I might be making a hood so I have more room for some weight.  I'm going to paint the interior and drill out the roll bar so still a few things let to do.

KandORacing
OK Thanks for the heads-up!
So, I'm an idiot and dropped off my cars this morning without postage! Addressed to Stroller from Delta6 with to and from addresses. Probably headed to Everett just to get sent all the way back to me. Anyways, when it gets back I'd like to put Stroller's & Clayfeet's Gassers inside and ship them all together if that's ok?
JDC442
Way to go Delta : P
Stroller
Well you could do that....or...... just keep them and maybe make them better, for yourself....

Mine are on the way via FEDEX should be there Monday.

Actually, the PO stated they may have shipped my box and try to collect postage on the other end. I guess it could've happened cause I didn't get my box back today, and I should've. If so, please let me know. I'm happy to Paypal the shipping charge to you,Stroller. Thanks, Delta
Stroller
Nothing yet...
Stroller
Arrived with postage

New rule has been added in Post 1.....It is in Bold letters take a look....Stroller

Cars are shipped. :( Traction, if the race starts this weekend then no, they won't make it in time. Next weekend, yes they'll be there in time.
Traction-Event
So....you'll still make the race...right? Or is there still an issue?

Since we have no control over how the unopened before cars are going to run or finish, the new rule doesn't seem fair - especially this late in the series submission.  I thought that was part of the chance we were taking anyway!?! Why would you penalize a whole team for the no chance at set up/break down/crash of one of its other cars? Doesnt make any sense to me to change (add) new rules now!

KandORacing
That's the way real racing works. You screw up, and it's done.
Milton-Fox
For that car I understand, but why count it against the other car.
Milton-Fox
They also dont change the rules the "day" before the race!
JDC442
I don't think any of us would feel right about accepting points when our car can't make the finish.
JDC442
I don't see this as a rule change, more of a rule definer
KandORacing
Jim, you said it perfectly.
hotrainiac
I don't see a change, just a clarification. There was no rule stating that the cars would be run until they both crossed the finish line.
hotrainiac
I also don't see this as counting it against the other car. What are you going to compare it to, if After has nothing to be compared to.

If a car just stops on the track in the comparison race then it can not be timed.  If it can,t be timed then that comparison race is scored as a zero point earner for that race.  As for a rule change "the day before the race"  It is not.  It is just a reminder that if your car DNF then you lose...........Stroller

model40fan
i didn't give points to cars that DNF in the Gassers Series...
Stroller
Well Duh !!

The current rules have never had a provision for individual points in the comparison race heats - only a time difference!  Then there are only points awarded for the top three time differences?  I understand that if a car does not finish it does not get a time/speed.  But why punish the other car that did finish?  I am not familiar with any form of team drag racing, but every drag event I have attended or watched always gives a time for the car who finishes a run regardless of what the other car does.

What do you do if the car hits a crease or snag in the track layout and flys off the track - is that a DNF?  Or a do over?

The new rule say no points will be award, but there are no points to be awarded for individual heats in the comparision race so it must logically refer to the single elimination runs then?

There was still a time difference that could have been recorded though - for the after car - if it finishes within the current rules as written below for the comparison.  Now that is eliminated.

These ares the rule changes I am pointing out.

I finally decided on the Street Creeper as my entries for this series and managed to get them mailed off a few days before the deadline - supposed to arrive on Monday!  I also include my grudge match dragsters for the pink slip races against K & O's dragster builds.

Traction-Event
Grudge match...Sounds cool, will the results be posted?
KandORacing
Dang, you opened up an All Large Error! LOL
KandORacing
Mark, how did you fix the rear axles in place? I'm having a heck of a time with mine....

Not an error!  There is a 3rd Street Creeper running around here with two sets of medium wheels on it now.

Did I send the dragsters to early?  I thought we were racing at Strollers during this event?

I didnt take pics of the details this time, but on both dragsters I "dremmeled" a channel across the inside of the rear chassis.

Used the loctite indoor glue to hold them in place - one dab on each side of the chassis base at the axle openings with a toothpick.  This allows you to position the axle and make sure it is square and non binding before it dries.

Once that is set up though,  I go back and then super glue the middle part of the axle.  The dried loctite keeps the super glue from wicking to the wheels.

Apart from the gasser vette this glue set up process for fixing axles in place has worked well.  Havent got the gassers back yet to see what happened there though.  I didnt make a channel on the vette chassis though as it still had the tab trough still in place to hold the axle.

You got it correct, we are racing at Stroller's. I'm scrambling to get mine put together! The rear axles were what tripped me up.... Can you share what those weigh in at?

Milton-Fox
Sorry, I never weighed them. There isnt much space to add weight though.

Hoping to put pics up on Thursday or Friday.......Stroller.......this is the first time I saw an AMC Pacer racing....

My apology to everyone, but I have to drop out of this race.  My youngest graduates high school Friday and we're having a party for him on Saturday.  There has been a ton of things to do inside and outside and I just haven't had the time to work on my entry.

Stroller
Sorry to hear that DvB, but family alsways comes first....Stroller
JDC442
Will miss having your fast builds compete in this one Bill

Mark, do you mean there is a Street Creeper like that on the pegs somewhere in your area?

Milton-Fox
No, it is setting in lane 3 of the HW 6 lane track right now.
KandORacing
Hmmmm..... Did you see any others like that in the store though?

As we all feared, JDC442's cars arrived today.......lol

KandORacing
What do they look like? *GULP*
JDC442
Throw up some pics Stroller!
Stroller
pics are coming up tomorrow.....
Stroller
K and O you sending some soon?
KandORacing
Yes, I will send them tomorrow or the next day. I'm very sorry about the huge delay.....

Please withdraw my cars from this event and cancel my hosting a race event.  Stroller if you will let me know how much you need to return my cars to me I will send you the money for postage.

Milton-Fox
Forgot about the grudge match. Return the dragsters to Keith and let me know the postage for that as well.
Stroller
That is okay. Can you tell me why? If it's none of my business that's okay too.

Well I have a 2 week gap between Sloppy and Delta6.  Does anyone want to fill that spot?  Or perhaps Sloppy will do 2 weeks?  If he can. ..............Stroller.

model40fan
sloppy will do the double duty if needed, but i have gigs on the 15th and 21st of june...

Hey Stroller!!!!!! Are you still working on the pictures?

Stroller
Pictures done posting them now!!!

I'm really sorry Stroller, I just sent the cars out today.

Stroller
If your cars get here on saturday you can still run. If not then I will send them on to Smitty for part2....

Race deadline was set as June 11th...that date has been out there a long time. Bummer

model40fan
like golf do we get to "drop" his car if not there in time ?

Well those are the vehicles racing in the first ever Before and After Tournament.  Boy do we have a variety, fantasy cars, dragsters, super cars, pickup trucks, muscle cars, sports cars,  gassers, and last but not least an AMC Pacer.  It is going to be interesting in deed.  Good luck to everyone............Stroller

Traction-Event
LOVE and I mean LOVE the PACER...gonna be a crowd favorite!
Stroller
It took 4 times but I finally got all the pictures to match the names. If I did make any mistakes I'm sure I will hear about it.....lol.

Agreed, quite a mix of cars, some notable fast castings. F-40 (even in stock trim), Shelby Cobra, Fat 40, Demon, way 2 fast...

Great looking cars everyone, wild to mild...some serious "After" customs

model40fan

hotra's COBRA, stock = 52.8 grams

GONNA BE FUN ! .... CAINT WAIT !

Stroller
gonna weigh the entrants and put them up on the first post..
KandORacing
Who the heck is hotra?
model40fan
HOTRA-INIAC... Lazy, hate typing
KandORacing
LOL OK. I wasn't sure.

Uh oh, those F40's are going to be menacing!

Echoing the reactions about the variety of cars.  I really like these open events that bring out such a mix.  No way to know what might happen.  Great photo idea too.

JDC442
Yes, love the Scrabble letter background

Okay the Before race is over and it was very exciting....so please enjoy.....Stroller

odd, that a Sloppy Jalopy would slide sideways to the finish to lose and come back for the win !

The After Race and the Comparison Race have also been run and will be posted tomorrow......Goodnight Stroller

Stroller
Thanks to my baby Clayfeat for helping me run these races....xoxoxo...Stroller
model40fan

Traction-Event
Uh oh....my Datsun can't make it down the track....
Traction-Event
Also, nice track layout, and video....lot of work thanks Stroller & Clayfeat!
JDC442
Great racing Stroller! I was worried about that Way 2 Fast. Bring on the After race!!!
Nightstalker
Is OK Track, looks like you and me will race for last place. lol

Points will have to be awarded for placement since it was a double elimination race.  An additional point for 1st -sound good?

Stroller
Not sure what you mean , but okay.
JDC442
One point for sixth, two points for fifth, three for fourth etc
Stroller
okay do it.

Here is the After Portion of the tournament......and it is gooood.

http://s859.photobucket.com/user/stroller1947/media/aftertourn_zps20febf3b.mp4.html

This is the Comparison Portion.....it was too boring to video, but the outcome is interesting.

Team........................Before Speed..........After Speed.................Difference

Stroller......................360...........................361.................................1 mph

Sloppy........................355............................326................................-29 mph  I know there is no such thing as negative mph.

JDC............................365............................379.................................14 mph

Traction Event.............DNF............................391...............................no score

Delta6..........................312............................367.................................55 mph

Nightstalker8...............179............................365.................................186 mph    1st place

Rally Case...................315.............................429...............................114 mph....(fastest after speed)  2nd place

Weber Cabin...............275............................329................................54 mph

Fishtail........................351..............................361...............................10 mph

Hole Shot....................371.............................260...............................-111 mph another negative (fastest before speed)

Fast Fred....................348..............................336..............................-12...........negative

Hotrainiac...................368..............................397..............................29 mph

Clayfeat......................290..............................356..............................66 mph  3rd place

tnfishdaddy................355................................376............................21 mph.

The cars with negative results were run again in case of mistake, but got the same results.

Maybe the results weren't all that boring after all Rally Case's fastest speed was made by an AMC Pacer.

..............brackets will be posted after a while.

model40fan
good stuff stroller, i made 2 fast cars slower duh !
Awesome vids! Congratulations!
Stroller
Thanks

That was definitely edge-of-your-seat racing!

How in the hell did Traction Event make that little Datsun pickup so fast???  I didn't see any FTE's on it either.

Quite an impressive build Kory Nightstalker -you took a mediocre car and made it fly!

Delta~ you just missed making the top 3 in both comparison and "After" race with your Camaro build.  Go Bellingham!!

I've never seen that Furiosity model Stroller -it was surprisingly fast.  Thanks for taking the time to make the video Ed, and give your wife a big hug for helping out!!

JDC, the Datsun is all motor...lol.  Won't do me much good, my before ride needs to finish the track.  Looks like my stock truck is a dud, maybe it has a wheel hanging up? Bummer, I tested the after truck before I modded it and it went pretty good...oh well.

Great racing, and coverage. Some very close races out there. Congrats to our top three finishers this week. The rest of us have some work  to do.  Like I said wild mix of cars.

The after Pacer reminds me of the Speed Buggy cartoon...all jacked up and over sized tires...fantastic.

Stroller
I was running my slow track here because it was raining. I can only set up my fast track outside.

On a faster track your Before Datsun might just kick butt......Stroller.

well fred will get his chance as we are re-running the Before and After Series heet #2 races this week ... go 442 go !

Traction-Event
Lets go racing!!!! thanks Smitty...

Heet #2 Auburn is a cluster.... My apologies

comparative times ;

page 2 ;

biggest difference...first = #8 Nightstalker... second = #6 delta 6 and third = #10 webber cabin...

JDC442
That's an awesome set up Smitty.

I'm confused..... I thought 77 was my after car, yet it shows it raced in the Before race? Or am I just being goofy as usual?

model40fan
yea, i got the # wrong on the brackets, check the time by lane pages...... before #76, after #77,
KandORacing
OK
model40fan
i also didn't drop fred's 14 into the loser's bracket... this is the last double eliminations that i will run.. i will host , single elims
KandORacing
I've always hated double elimination races anyway, I'm not allowing double eliminations in my Matchbox series
model40fan
don't get me wrong, i think any host that wants to run double elims can...
JDC442
Single Eliminations are definitely easier, but double allows for better placement
KandORacing
In the rules on my Matchbox series it only allows single eleminiations though.

Smitty, it looks like the top bracket may actually be the "After" bracket.  Traction #5, Delta #6 and Nightstalkers #8 fast mods doing well makes more sense being in the first bracket you have labeled as the "Before" bracket.  I could be wrong, just wanted you to check it out.

Thanks for running the races Smitty.  Can't wait to see the cars here in B'ham -maybe Delta will let me help him run the races again.  Always a good time!

I pooched both brackets... Where most losers drop straight down, in a later round the loser drops down but also forward one row, that threw me off in both brackets, I dropped the #2 straight down, but that's where #8 & #14 should have been...I also noticed that I moved TE's DNF on and dropped TNF's #17 down to the loser's bracket by mistake...

.................

. Too many mistakes to let it go... 442 is going to save my bacon by re-running the cars this week, I'll be shipping them Saturday AM...We can use the Auburn time differences with his results...

.................

As posted in a thumbs up above, I won't be running future double eliminations, too much for this old brain... I will host almost any race series, but at my house, it will be single eliminations only...

KandORacing
Doubles are too much for my brain, and I'm only 16!
model40fan
cars mailed by 10;am... # 911 490 112 308 675 063 349 29... they say monday
KandORacing
Awesome, let's race!

CARS ARRIVED TODAY!!  RACING WILL COMMENCE TOMORROW!!!

I'M TRYING A BIT OF A DIFFERENT TRACK SET UP, SO WE'LL SEE IF THAT DOESN'T SHAKE THINGS UP A BIT.

model40fan
go 442 go

Races are in the Books!

No surprises in the Before race (similar results to Spokane), so I'm just going to post the finished bracket.

model40fan
imagine that... a Sloppy second !

The "AFTER" race was more interesting, so I'll post a play by play of the race, then a picture of the Finished Bracket along with a shot of the Bellingham "AFTER" champion, and you might not guess who it is....

Traction-Event
What was the final track lay out???
model40fan
yea, track pix
JDC442
Sorry, already took the track down. It was a short quick drop and a long run out

Modified:  the “AFTER” Race

Upper Bracket Round One

Race 1: Delta’s Camaro beats Fishtail’s Lotus in a very close race

Race 2: Rally Case’s jacked up Pacer looks good as it whips past Clay Feat’s Cream Machine

Race 3: Stroller’s Furiosity is fast, but KandO’s Mustang takes an early lead and never looks back as it flies to victory

Race 4: The Sloppy green Way 2 Fast mod looks better than ever slipping past the Hot Cobra in this first round race

Race 5: Traction’s little Datsun with the Huge engine is frustrated early on by the speed of TNfishdaddy’s Lambo, but uses that anger to come from behind for the victory

Race 6: Holeshot’s freak ’55 is no match for Fast Fred’s 40 in their first round match up

Race 7: The closest first round race is between Weber Cabin’s Demon and the Nightstalker Charger.  The red Charger is the faster in this race and moves on to round 2.

Upper Bracket Round 2

Race 8: Starting gate, round two –Delta6 sits alongside the JDC F40 in his impressively fast silver Camaro, giving him a nod just before the green light.  Delta puts up a good fight, but he can’t keep the pace of the orange Ferrari.  JDC with another win.

Race 9: Rally Case sits up high in his perky Pacer, hoping for another victory as he faces the dark red K&O Mustang.   That hope is soon dashed as he watches the Mustang’s tail lights all the way down the track.

Race 10: Sloppy verses Traction –today is Smitty’s day, as he takes down the dangerous Traction Event in this second round race.  Traction vows to take revenge from below.

Race 11: Nightstalker earns another win making the Fast Fred 40 not look so fast.

Lower Bracket Round 1

Race 12: The Tennessee Fish Daddy can’t catch a break today.  His Lamborghini is indeed fast, but not as fast as the hotrain Cobra, which takes him out of this competition.

Race 13: Weber Cabin’s pink Demon makes easy work of the beast-like Bel Air.

Race 14: Clay feat is determine to show her man who’s boss in this race.  She barely beats him in the first race, but Stroller’s Furiosity won’t let her by him in the next two races.  He’s sleepin’ on the couch tonight –hope the win was worth it!

Race 15: Fishtail’s handsome Lotus takes an early lead and doesn’t look back beating Fred and sending him to the pits for the remainder of this race.

Lower Bracket Round 2

Race 16: The Hot Cobra can’t get past the Pacer as Rally Case moves on in the brackets

Race 17: This Delta/Weber race proves to be a good one.  The pink Demon takes a slight lead early on, but Delta is determine to make a statement today hitting the nitrous in the straight making enough horse power to take down the pretty demon and move on to face the Pumped Up Pacer.

Race 18: Stroller is a bit too cocky as he gets ready to face the Datsun pickup.  He makes a smart comment to Traction as they idle at the start gate.  Whatever was said didn’t seem to phase Traction as he speeds on to victory looking for another chance to face the Smitty Way 2 Fast.

Upper Bracket Round 3

Race 19: JDC’s F40 expects an easy win versus the upshot K & O Mustang, but is surprised by the Stang’s Faster Than Ever speed.  It’s a win for JDC, but only by a hair in both lanes.

Race 20: The Nightstalker has looked nothing but good in his races thus far.  But he's facing a fiery competitor in the Way 2 Fast Sloppy Jalopy.  The Charger gets out quick, but can’t hold off the Way 2 Fast Jalopy.  Another victory for Smitty!

Lower Bracket Round 3

Race 21: Delta6 is tuned to perfection today as he leaves no doubt in the competition’s minds.  The Pacer is just no match for the speedy Camaro.

Race 22: Although the Fishtail Lotus looks smart at the gate, his father takes him to school, and takes the victory.

Lower Bracket Round 4

Race 23: This race featuring Nightstalker and Delta 6 takes several races before it can be determined who is the fastest.  The judges finally give Delta the nod and the checkered flag as he winks at the Nightstalker thanking him for a great race.

Race 24: Easily one of the closest races in this event.  Tracion Event versus KandORacing.  This one goes seven races before Traction Event is forced to tip his hat to the faster racer today.  The KandO Mustang moves on.

Upper Bracket Final One

Race 25:  JDC is surprised once again by the speed of his competition.  The Sloppy machine is in top form as he gets by the F40 and looks ahead to the Championship race.

Lower Bracket  Round 5 & 6

Race 26: Delta 6 finally runs out of gas as he faces the fiery K&O Mustang (should have saved the nitrous for this one).  The Stang is smooth as silk today and makes easy work of the silver Camaro.

Race 27: The JDC F40 beat the up and coming K&O earlier in the match, can he do it again?  KandO says “no”, as he puts away the Spokane champ in a couple of close races.

Overall Final

Race 28:  The K&O Mustang has worked his way up through the lower bracket to earn a chance at taking down the Smitty Way 2 Fast.  In order to upset Mr. Smith, he’ll have to take him out twice.  Both cars have been extremely impressive today, but only one racer can earn the title of Bellingham Champ.

The Sloppy Speedster is surprised in back to back races as the Mustang beats him two in a row.

Yet in order to take the crown, the K&O Stang must do it again as he came through the lower bracket.  The Final of Finals looks just like the race before.  The Mustang leaves no doubts as he cruises to victory two more times!!!

Congratulations to KandORacing!!!

Congrats K&O...this guy is one to watch.

The mighty Datsun put a few FTE's on the trailer, yeah baby!... this experiment is workin....love me some 5SP wheels...

Smitty's drop top Way 2 is a sweet ride...look at the selection of parts.  see if I can get them all, madfast blower, bone shaker pipes, not sure on the injected mill? fuel cell, wind in the hair...

model40fan
good eye, rat bomb pipes, '57 C mill, re-located W2F dash & seat, "BRIDES MAID"

Great blow-by-blow description JDC!  Congrats to K&O on the win and to Smitty for finishing second.  Looks like there are a lot of great cars in this series.

Wow! I can't believe I actually built a good car this time! Thank you everyone for the congratulations, and Smitty, your car put up a good fight! Well done!

model40fan
what was wrong with your dumpin A ?
KandORacing
You're right, I forgot about Mutha Load! If only the weight wouldn't have come out.....
KandORacing
I'm building a second Mutha Load as well, I'll post pictures of the pair here soon

Since I got to Strollers late, he wasn't able to weigh my cars in. Just in case anyone is wondering, I think the scale said my After car was 51 grams, give or take a little.

Sorry guys. Just got home from church. Racing is wrapped up and I'll try to get the results up tomorrow after work.
model40fan
go danno go !

Danny, no problem! Does this mean you are running the original date of July the 6th also?

Brackets!! After i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr253/danielcollick/IMAG1333_zpseic866gv.jpg Before: i489.photobucket.com/albums/rr253/danielcollick/IMAG1334_zpscoriksi_edit_1404182660204_zps0qj30qlh.jpg I really hope everyone can see these and I apologize for not doing a play by play. Hoping to develop my presentation over time. Congratulations to JDC442 & Sloppy-J's! Some tight racing at the end of the brackets. Thank you to the other hosts, and I'll get your cars back out if you like. Anyone else who'd like their cars back please pm me about your return shipping arrangements. I know someone sent me a check for themselves & Webercabin during the last Gassers race that included return shipping for this race, but I can't remember who.
JDC442
That would probably be Rally Case
JDC442
Biggest differences were 1.Traction 2. KandO 3. Nightstalker
Traction-Event
Solid 2nd"... for the Datsun...congrats JDC! Well won series.
KandORacing
Jim, do you mean mine had the 2nd biggest difference in time between the Before car and the After car?
JDC442

FINAL POINTS ARE NOW UP

CONGATS 442,  job well done.... as always the sloppies are happy with a second place finish...

also, a big thanks to all the hosts, and 442 for cleaning up the "sloppy mess" ...

confused... the sloppies got 2 pts. in the after race... but beat HS, RC and NS...ok with me, it didn't affect any points...

JDC442
One point per win works for single elimination. Double elimination allows points for finish position only.
JDC442
7 for 1st, 5 for second, 4 for third, 3 for fourth, 2 for 5th, 1 for 6th
model40fan
fair enough...

Well that was fun.  Not too bad for the debut racing and I certainly enjoyed the diversity of cars in the series.  Congratulations to all the winners hosts and participants.  Next series coming out of Spokane is going to be,  Cops and Robbers "The Chase"........coming soon........Stroller.
