Build Journal: Old Route 49

rush_racing_league Monday, 3/30/2026

I am working on finishing my current track, while creating something new with what I have currently. I have the layout down, and not I'm finishing the track for said layout. Early test runs have been great, and I am excited to get this track finished.

I am now into the creating my own track as I have used up all my wide track goodness. I have been talking about making custom tracks, so now, I am forcing my hand into to get ready for my mail in race.

Here's where I stand currently. A long way to go, but I like working on this and should be race ready by the weekend, if all goes well. Then I will work on scenery.

This.looks fast, ....carry on.

  • Haha Hopefully! It was really slow on the lower section before I added the wall part. If it’s too fast I’ll add a hill. — rush_racing_league
  • The turn tilted toward the right. I’ve never thought of that, I’m going to try it. — alva1370
  • That’s cool! Let me know how it works out for you! — rush_racing_league

Looks good!

Really nice!

I have been plugging away at the track, and trying to get it further along. I've been adding a lot of scenery, not my strongest skill, but you can't get better if you don't practice! I'm happy with it this far. The few test runs I've done before adjusting and fixing the track have been fun. The track is very fast, and the cars are dancing all around this place.

Tomorrow I start working on it again. Everything is wet, and needs to get secured and held down so I'm taking a break. It was a good build day. W

Here are some progress pictures for Old Rte 49. I am plugging away and trying to get this bad larry ready for the Climb To Iron race! I've changed somethings here and there from these pictures, but didn't take any pictures of it.

We are so close! Can't wait to see new cars racing here!!

All progressing!

Starting to lay the scenery. I've never done this, and doing diorama's has always been something I wanted to try. I'm learning a lot, and what I should have done rather than what I did. It's all part of the experience lol

I love watching the creative process involved in new track building. Also, I hate the creative process of new track building!! So stressful at times. Just when all is running smoth, one small adjustment throws it all out of whack. My current track set up has been running smooth as silk for 3 months, then out of nowhere cars star flying off the track due to a newly formed "bump" that appeared where 2 track pieces meet. I watched the final test run of a 70 g modified car I had built launch off the track and land with both front and back axels bent..... best of luck on your track build. If you ever want to run some decently fast test cars down your track, I'd be happy to send you a few

  • Thank you so much for the offer, I may take you up on that after my first mail in race for this track. — rush_racing_league
  • I hit return before I was finished typing… lol The frustration is real with the track changing. One minute 4 cars are doing great, then 4 cars can’t finish the track because something got moved or loosened up. Haha I do love building this, and already look forward to doing more tracks while trying to evolve this one. Thanks again and I do watch you race! Big fan! — rush_racing_league
