Car Tuned, Tuning for Speed
Recently I've been completely taken by the Car Tuned series! So much so I did a deep dive into their scale so I could make a drag strip to race them on. You can see that project here www.redlinederby.com/topic/car-tuned-and-q-style-diecast-drag-strip/7564

Now that I have a track, I wanted to start testing and tuning for speed! Car Tuned is great for this with it's easy to take apart chassis. I also found there were specific chassis that came with hard plastic tires for racing.

These drag tires come on Series 1 Chevy Pickup and Camaro. In the first video I posted about the track there was this race between to very bright yellow cars, an AE86 and a Corvette. And of course the Corvette smoked the little Corrolla...But as we know from legend the AE86 is the embodiment of fighting spirit...or maybe it's just my favorite car???? and that's why I chose to tune it to try and beat the Corvette. You can see the first Video here: youtu.be/WS5vE53P-ps?si=JS-O0MkfUAjs4_bc

The first thing I did to make this car faster was to switch out the rubber tires for the drag slicks. I adjusted the front wheels so the front end stuck up like a Gasser. I found this helped reduce body rub that was slowing it down on the track. I cut apart a tire weight and placed it far back as possible.

The final part of the tune was to add my graphite mixture to the axle housing and inner wheel hubs. The wheels are not independent and stuck to a solid axel. I worked the lubricant in and then added silicone spray to any fender parts that may end up running against the track.
The results were amazing as to can see in this video: youtu.be/f4m8zjxpenM?si=CnVuI9iiMQw2z6zG
The AE86 before tuning would lose by almost two car lengths. After, it beat the Corvette by half a car length. It even beat my fastest stock casting, the red Chevy Pickup with Drag slicks!
In my second video on Q style cars I put all the brands against eachother and of course the Choro Q, Penny Racer, smoked all the other brands. The Choro Q was raced without any pullback motor help. You can see that video here: youtu.be/43uPiU01KKw?si=tdI6xiF0sB3D9GHO

In my next tune for speed I'm going to apply the Secret Sauce from BlueLine's post to the Chevy and see if can finally beat the Choro Q! I'll post updates on that here. If you have Ideas for tunes I'd love to try them out!

The secret sauce from Blue Line was incredible! It took a few more runs for a Car Tuned casting but man it was fast!!! See it in action here: youtu.be/dkOeicPkUWc?si=tr_7qfZ-Y8gndcAr
