Heavyweight Challenge

Jump to last page

It was suggested I start a series...I have decided to take that idea up, and have produced the HEAVYWEIGHT CHALLENGE!

Rules:

114g.

Any casting(s).

Stock and/or Mod allowed.

Size: I would make it fit through a 3D Botmaker finish line and a Dragtracks finish line (whichever is shorter) as far as height is concerned. This event should probably have a length limit due to possibilities with weight--we'll make it four inches.

Number of cars per racer: 1 (though I'll consider making it two if there aren't many entrants).

Any wheels; regular rules on lubes/graphite.

Any harmful substances must be somehow covered or enclosed--your car had to be safe to handle.

Rounds will be Double-Elimination.

Date/Location TBD.

Hosts (how many do we normally have--five?):

(Subject to change--considering rearranging this to make more sense as far as shipping is concerned, and maybe see if the LJLRC is interested in hosting either the first or the last race--maybe both, one on each track.)

1.  C10 Speedway (just putting you first since you volunteered first)

2.  K&O Dragway

3.

4.

5.  FOTF Speedway (do I remember correctly that the series founder must host the finals?)

Entrants:

FOTF (car TBD)

Cliffordshaw (car TBD)

C10 (right?) (SWAT Van)

K&O Racing (car TBD)

GTAMan (car TBD)

Voxxer Racing (car TBD)

Now I've also had a couple other ideas concerning this series:

Any ideas or suggestions?

C-10 and I were talking about a "100g van jam" full size production vans...maybe even up to 114g for a 4oz race.. no armoured cars, combat medics, ice cream trucks..full size chevy, ford, or dodge...only???

  • That's not bad, either! Think BIG! Ha-ha. — FOTF

Hey Cameron,

Cool, I have a Swat van that needs to be filled with lead!

I'd be willing to host one of the races, no problem.

What series did you want to combine this with. Maybe we could combine it with a lightweight (35 gram?) 'Econo-box' cars...sub compacts (minis, fiat 500's, Golf's...and, of course Gremlins!!).

  • Thanks, Chris! Hate to get "swatted" by that thing! I was referring to the Middleweight Challenge. More below... — FOTF
  • Let's see how much interest is generated by the Heavy's before we combine them — 72_Chevy_C10

My thinking was any car beneath the weight limit; but if--IF--it were combined with the Middleweight Challenge, I could see, like, making it all-American modeled cars (I think that's what MC III's based on, right?). Of course, that would make it a bit harder to come up with good stuff for compact cars...hm...maybe have Asian Featherweight, European Middleweight, American Heavyweight (American Vans and the like are easier to find than European or Japanese ones--though maybe we could switch the first two).  Again, I know Minis are European, but things like Toyota Priuses might fit well.

This is just a thought; I don't want to intrude on C10's series.

  • Again, let's wait and see...I'm in for a Heavy if it takes off — 72_Chevy_C10
  • Okay, sounds like a plan. — FOTF

I'm in for this.  I'd like to see the widest possible specs, allowing for diverse entries.  We've had a number of very specific series lately.  I like FOTF's original specs (except for "harmful substances" - what???!!!)

  • It HAS been a while since we've seen one of those; nothing against specifics, but it's good to see all manner of vehicles battle it out. — FOTF
  • I'm referring to things like...lead with harmful side effects (since I think at least some has it), maybe small particles of said lead which — FOTF
  • could fall out & be eaten by dogs or little kids or baby monkeys. Essentially the same goes for putty & everything else. (You can use them — FOTF
  • just do so safely). Sorry for all the replies. — FOTF
  • Gun oil could fall under that category..... BAD for plastic track, and the wheels! — KandORacing
  • And btw, I'd vote for 114g as a weight limit — cliffordshaw
  • Acid and other toxic substances as well, probably...ha-ha. But yeah, I know that some kinds of oil can hurt plastic. — FOTF
  • I'll definitely consider making it 114. — FOTF
  • Unlimited would be best LOL — KandORacing

I've got a few tricks up my sleeve for this.... if it takes off I'm in, I could host too.

  • Awesome! Thanks, K&O! — FOTF

Just trying to keep this thread alive, in case there's any more interest in heavy racers...

I think I can redo and repair my NOS X-Press truck to compete in this one. Nice to be able to use FTE here. It was set up for the 5 spoke rookie race, but tanked on the track.

I am sure it would work on this one.

Keeping an eye on this, for sure!! Yep!

  • If it's heavy and fast, it should fit in well. };D Thanks, CTD! — FOTF

Any more interest? I'm thinking about finally having this series over the coming December and January.

I am interested.

If this is the next event, get it on the schedule...and rules sorted.
