How high are your cars?
Hello,
Most things I read show that cars are usually around 1-1/2" tall; but I see a lot of mention when some are hosting to keep car under 2". I understand customized options may need outside stuff added to the car to make it taller, but in generally, are cars normally around 1-1/2" tall when just adding paint/wheels/weight/etc...?
Have a plan for my track, but I don't want to exclude many drivers if their modified cars are always above the 1-1/2" height by the process they use. I also have only opened about 10 cars so far in my box to see what I have, and they are all stock sizing.
Thank you for any suggestions on this. My first hosting won't be for quite a while; but I just wanted to be sure when I build that any height restrictions I want to enforce on my track; doesn't interfere with a car just getting some speed done to it as opposed to decorative addons for a special event; or a truck that are stock taller than the 1-1/2" normal production runs.

Matchbox Jeep Wrangler Superlift. If this can fit underneath whatever overpasses you have planned, should be golden

- bet it's close to too wide for orange (have to ask the jousters...lol) — dr_dodge
- Yeah I'm not sure what the true question is here. I was illustrating HEIGHT alone here if track design parameters and features were going to be a factor — Chris_Hood
- Tunnels, overpasses -- that sort of thing — Chris_Hood
- Parameters would be that almost all requirements to mail a car in says a 2" max height; so I have plans for my staging area to fit these cars if I adhere to something standard. Obviously a non-standard race venue asking for large trucks with 4x4 and a top riding passenger would surpass that 2" mark; but in general, just want to have a nice parking area for the cars coming into race on my track. If I build for a 2" capacity, then I should be fine, it is that I found some nice pieces that were 1-3/4" tall that is suitable for my task. :-) — RacerGnome
For a moment I was about to say " Cars driving high as a kite ain't safe" but for the most part low to the ground cars often performer better although adding weight down low in a build can help lower it's center of gravity
I have built cars very tall, wide and long
i will build to the max size the host says, or close
warwagon, had to PM 905 as the initial version was 9" long
my gasser that won the yellow snow is (bearly) under 2.5" wide
that car straddles orange track...lol
for goat hill I didn't limit size, only gave guidlines based upon what goes down my track
and If ya want to risk the flagstand
just like real racing, and don't make rules to never enforce
build, test tune, then define, and make it easy and fun

A couple of the pickup trucks have upright exhaust stacks, which takes them above the max height of my track, as I have some overhang areas that the vehicles have to pass under, which is why I limit vehicle height. On top of that, lower vehicles work better on tight turns for open tracks.
High as a kite, son!

I can't be the only one who read the title and expected the author to be Puff's Racing
Basically if a Dodge Van can run your track without problems you should be fine in regards to casting height. Try also a few of the bigger pickup trucks in the mainline series for good measure
