My first body mods
I finally found some 1/16 tube at Hobbytown and gotta say it's PERFECT! I'll be posting photos at the blog once I finish the project. The real trick seems to be grinding the plastic chassis down equally so the next tube axle is straight. Other than that, a little super glue and it's all set.
Thanks for the tip Jason, this changes everything for me. Now I can get started on a Nashville racer...I just hope I get it done in time. I'm not very good at modding so it probably won't place very well but should be a fun project. Now I just gotta buy some chop shop FTEs to pull from. I haven't been hoarding them because I could never easily use them.
I also found some pinewood derby weights that I'm going to try and use too. I dunno what body I should mod out for the race. I'm leaning towards the Super Van right now, but may try a Matchbox+FTE too.
Glad I could help.
I use a small file to open up the axle groove. If I am just testing weights, I use stick on wheel weights. You can get them in 1/2 and 1/4oz and any tire shop will have tons of them lying around. If that approach doesn't work for you, go check out the outdoor section in walmart for fishing weights. And if the whole lead thing concerns you, walk over a couple of aisles and grab some copper BBs
Brian (RDR) Give me a call, I have something to discuss with you.

Wellcome!
Not sure if I ever posted this one here...
GTO and El Camino mash up...GTOcamino!
Sharp!
How in the heck did you do that? I don't see any cut lines. Where does the GTO end and the El Camino begin? Impressive!
That's what I was going for!
GTO clip is from the front edge of the doors.
Thanks.

That's the sexiest thing I've seen all day. As usual, your color and paint job is spot on. NICE!
Glad the axle trick worked for you Brian.
Get that stuff built for Nashville! I got mine in the works.... This will be the first race I actually get to compete in since two years ago. I'm effin ready!!! LOL.
