Exciting days are ahead of WorpeX Racing as we move our track yet again! We leave Philadelphia (although, we're only going like 2 towns over...) for greener pastures but the time to talk about future tracks is not now. There will be one final hoorah here in the city of brotherly love!

Things are going quickly right now. Settlement on the house is the end of next month. I have to be moved out of the apartment by the end of march. So, that means there isn't a whole lot of time to squeeze a race in. I have an interesting idea for that...

This competition will be limited to former Mail-In Mod cars who did not place in the top 3 of its prior mail-in attempts. Make a fast car for Bootleg run which flipped off the track in its first race? This is the perfect chance for it to redeem itself!

You are allowed to make changes to the wheels of the car from its first event. Chassis, Base and Paint must remain the same.

Rules & restrictions

  • Modified entries only
  • 60gmaximum weight
  • 3.25in. long x 2in. tall x 1.25in. wide
  • Limit 2 entries per household
  • Retail axles and wheels only. No custom axles allowed.
  • Dry lube only
  • Car must have prior mail-in experience and must not have placed in the top 3 of the event.
    • Please provide former mail-in event and general placement it acheived when sending car. (either via RLD website or on Race ID slip)
    • You are allowed to make changes to the wheels of the car from its first event. Chassis, Base and Paint must remain the same.
  • Rookies may enter new mods

Dates & deadlines

All entries must be received by the host before Thursday, 3/5/2020. Racing is scheduled for Thursday, 3/7/2020. Results will be posted on or after that date as is convenient for the host.

How to enter

Contact the tournament host to get the shipping address.

Include $5 for return shipping if you want your entries back. Entries not getting returned will be considered a donation to WorpeX Racing and will subsequently be added to our website with your name proudly displayed on its page.

Please print and include a Race ID slip with your entry

Prizes

TBA... I've got a Cien, Stingray and Stockar chassis which were former FTE donors. I'll paint one, slap a WorpeX Racing logo on it and throw some feet on it to give to the winner. Oh, and it'll be slow. Real slow. Ain't sending you some fast car, you already won, you don't need another one!

Race format and scoring

This will be a single-elimination tournament. A car will move on in the bracket only when it wins two races in a row. Cars will alternate lanes between each race. Any DNF will be considered a loss on that lane and will not be re-raced.

The car that wins the final race will be declared the winner. Race host has final decision in all races.

Bracket seeding will be random but will try to avoid having an entrant race themselves, especially in the first round.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 2g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for tournament prizes. Offending cars will still race. Prize will go to the runner-up in the case of penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be repaired before the tournament. Cars that break during the tournament will not be repaired or replaced.

Nice concept with the old mods...I'm gonna see if I can find some. I never win a race so any of my mods qualify but just not sure where they ended up! TBD

  • Doesn't need to be exact. Something like "Lost in first round of middleweight challenge II" is fine. — WorpeX

Also...most the Modified racing is done at 57g to 60g...so even with the 2g overage...may want to reconsider the 56g max weight

MAN!  I dont know if Ill have anything to meet the requirements 100% as Ive only been in a handful of races and either 1) have placed top 3 or higher or 2) has polished nickel axles but Ill do some digging and see.  Most of my mods have yet to return from races also.  I really wanna take place if I can tho, lemme see what I can do.

Matt

  • Poor guy, all his cars have finished 3rd or better... — redlinederby
  • Heres the funny thing. ALL of my non nickel axle cars have finished 3rd or better. The rest of my cars are Nickel axle cars OR they havnt competed yet LOL — Mattman213
  • FTEs are retail, you're good. Supercars should be back in time for this event so you got two losers right there! — WorpeX
  • HA I got THREE losers. Two are stock cars and the modded Shelby will need to be rebuilt BUT if I get it back in time and can fix it in time I might just do so! Allowing FTE's opens everything up for me tho as I have a couple cars that might qualify now! — Mattman213
  • Could mod up the stockers, that would work! — WorpeX
  • IF I have to I might just do so, I really kinda like them stock but the Purple 928 was brought back from the dead and is really really quick considering it had rusty axles and one wheel that was stuck to the axle before I started messing with it. If I hadnt been successful getting it freed up it was gonna get new wheels and axles but now I kinda wanna keep it going as is. Itll go into my test pile for this race as it sits tho for sure! — Mattman213
  • Just made a quick list of Mods that have raced and results and have a couple I can choose from, try to tune up and see if they can redeem themselves. I like the idea of trying to redeem a mod that might have come up short in the past! — Mattman213

I have only ever entered the gray F-150 truck and it has FTE wheels and axles, so I guess I am out.

  • FTEs are retail axels, you're good on that! I don't like the way the default template words that... let me change the post. — WorpeX

Going to also say that if you're a rookie and have either never entered two mods into prior mail-ins or never entered any feel free to send something new!

Also FTEs are retail axels NOT premium axels!!! In fact, I don't even know what the hell premium axels even are. I removed that language. (Brian, please reword that template!)

  • SWEET! The doors are opening up to at least be able to send something your way. Put me down for 2 cars. They may be the worst and finish bottom of the pack but dangit, Ill support your farewell race any way I can! — Mattman213
  • It's on the list to change that template...it confuses way too many. It was my (poor) attempt to abstract out FTEs for people that had no idea what that meant. At this point we probably shouldn't even qualify a difference in axles, shy of homebrew creations. — redlinederby

Put me down for two.

Prize car, which one should I spiffy up?

  • That Focus could be sweet — redlinederby
  • Any of em would be great. I had an ST and have always loved the RS casting but the others are cool just the same, that Caddy is slick too! — Mattman213
  • Well then, two votes for the RS so far... unless I get a bunch of other people saying otherwise, RS it is! That's easy for me too... its already got wheels... just needs some paint! — WorpeX
  • I guess I will be the oddball and vote for the X-Raycers car. — Secondhand_Speed
  • That one would be interesting, I have no clue how clear plastic would look painted... plus I have no idea what happened to its windshield haha — WorpeX

I'll find two old Mods and send them in

Mattman213, I wish I had your problem..... I cant even make it in the top 10 on Mods. I will keep on trying!

SO!!!  MARK ME DOWN FOR THIS RACE!

Pleeeeese!

  • Ha dont sweat it and dont stop. You will get a taste of getting a couple rounds deep into a race and think your getting somewhere and then start going out first round every other race again leaving you scratching your head. Im learning that if you (Im speaking personally really) arent having fun with this, you wont do as well. Im back having fun and speed is coming back around again LOL — Mattman213

Interest seems low so far... lets see if I can drum some up!

Track preview...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeMniuW3hhM

Camera work will obviously improve for the event.

The track races pretty clean, surprisingly, but cars definitely do a lot of paint trading! Got a chip on my beautiful red Road Pirate during testing, kinda sad about that, but that's racing! Very few crashes during my test tournament. Most crashes end up taking out both cars... not sure how i'll handle the rules for that yet.

Anyway, Plenty of time to pick out your cars! Would love to see more cars participate!

  • Woah...cool! I dig that layout. I should get my Super Cars next week and then I'll send them your way. — redlinederby
  • And I'll get this race in next week's Rundown too — redlinederby
  • If you're sending them, message LoS and see if he can pack yours with mine. Would save the cars a trip. Although im not sure if they were send back already or not... — WorpeX
  • Oh man that's good stuff, Luke has watched your test run like 8 times now — Mattman213

Can i send a car if i entered it but never raced?... I understand if I can't. It got sent. But then when it arrived it had a wrong address so it was sent back.

  • You mean your supercars? I'll allow them! — WorpeX
