  • Nice. I don't think I could bring myself to repaint that one. Big fan of the 7SP wheels, too. For looks anyway, haven't tried racing them. — Ruckus_Racing
  • I don't get into the repaint, as I'm hypersensitive to smells like rattle cans...instant headache — GBURacing
  • Very sweet! — ManiacMotorsports
  • some people use water based acrylics, no fumes — dr_dodge

I have a sweet wife, MamaGnome. :-)

She went out to lunch on Wednesday and stopped by Walmart and the Dollar Tree; bought about 20 cars for me that were oddballs or thought they were cool that I would probably want them.

Then she takes me to my doctor's appointment on Friday afternoon, and afterwards takes me to dinner.  BUT, after dinner, she takes me to a Dollar General and buys another 20 or so cars.  On our way home from there (20 miles away from home on our way back to our small town), she stops at a 'newer' Dollar General that she has not been to before, and again, MamaGnome is the one helping me pick out some cars and buys me another 10 or so.

But that is not all!

She takes me Sunday to Wally World so I can get a couple of yearly shots, and then takes me to their toy section and for being a good boy and letting the nurse poke me needles, buys me another 10 or 15 cars!

I scored like 80 something cars as I see them on the table ready for me to enter them into my spreadsheet.  I should have a car now for any tourney announced that suits me.  And if not, the wife will know what to get when she is out shopping if I tell her what I need.

The only 'weird' choice I made is that I saw a motorcyle in the New For 2025, and I thought that would neat.  Now that I am at home and entering into my spreadsheet, and looking the item over closer, this car can't go down a track?  I think it is more decorative than function as it only has 2 wheels.

It is: Hot Wheels HYW51 Honda VFR750R (RC30); Number 4 of 5 in the Moto series, and number 224 of 250 in the full collection.

Maybe I could fit this in the back of one my pickups as 'weight'? <lol>

Well, so be it.  Live and learn. :-)  But at least the wife bought me some other cars for me.

BTW, she also got a Shark Bait which is evidently a Treasure Hunt car, so she was happy with that.  And she bought two of those Mystery Bag cars that she got to open up.  She is happy to be involved with me in my new hobby.

  • Fairmont!! — ManiacMotorsports
  • Those three bring back a lot of memories. — Ruckus_Racing
  • Wow! — Dutch_Clutch_Racing
  • Those are sweet! — RacerGnome
  • A friend of mine has all three of those. They ended up in the sandbox, then when the axels rusted and the wheels were stuck, they ended up being crushed so they could be run over by his monster trucks. Man if we could have our cars back from the 80s... — Skid_Marks_Diecast_Racing

I was at the Marysville Toy Show a long with Chief Wapahoo this weekend and this older gentleman had a booth set up selling premiums, and other stuff. I was there before the early bird entry started because once the event starts it's impossible to leave your booth. Buy this guy was selling premiums $3.00 or 2 for $5.00, after a quick glNce I almost had a stroke when I saw this on his table. I asked him twice if the cars on the table were really $3.00 and he confirmed. Apparently the story he told me was he bought a massive collection very recently for the huge Red Line Collection that came with it. The guy was an old soul collector and didn't care or even know much about Chases, STH or anything that's come out recently. This the reason for such cheap prices. He was looking to sell off all of the "Bulk" that he acquired in the collection purchase to recover some of what he spent on the collection. Talk about insane luck, $2.50 for a $400 car, never in my life have I had this level of luck before yesterday!

I got a couple of the new Polestar TRX 's !!!

  • Lookin' fast! — ManiacMotorsports
  • I like this store; they went to the trouble to mark a car down a penny. Probably more in labor to write 99 cents instead of leaving it at a dollar; great bargain. — RacerGnome
  • I agree with racergnome, with such steep discounts no wonder they went out of business. That is a SWEET redliner though! — Sunshine_City_Garage

Picked these up yesterday as part of a larger 200 car collection, thought they were neat.  Local guy buys storage units, and I was able to trade two old laptops for the lot of 200 cars from the 90's.  These three definitely stood out of the box.

Picked up some goodies from the Dollar.25 tree yesterday.

So $1.59 later at my thrift store I have a car carrier and K's car from Bladerunner 2049, not that it really needs it.
