Race format and scoring

Group seeding will be decided by a series of head to head run-offs.
Cars will run in groups of 4, earning points depending on lap position (1st = 4, 2nd = 3, 3rd = 2, 4th = 1, DNF* = 0)
Top 2 cars in points from each group advance to the next round.

*DNF means departed track or not on all 4 wheels while completely on track.

Penalties/DNF

Cars are given a grace of 1g over the stated weight limit to account for variance in scales.

If a car fails to meet any of the restrictions listed above, the car will not qualify for victory. Offending cars will still race. Finish position and any prize will go to the runner-up in the case of the penalty car winning.

Cars that fail to run or fit on the track, or that happen to break during racing, will forfeit their matches. Cars that arrive broken will attempt to be minimally repaired before the racing begins. Cars that break during racing will not be repaired or replaced.

Prizes

Homemade trophy for the winner.

A lot can change between now and March but I'd like to try this one...it's on my calendar. Happy it's a general '50s theme rather than just the '57s.

  • I'm thinking of opening it to any classic 50s era American car — IndianaDiecastRacing
  • Might be worth considering...opens it up a bit. How many 50s Chevy trucks are there anyway? — redlinederby
  • whatever you decide is cool. I have the Chevy's, but if you open it up there's a man in Cincinnati with some cool 50s era cars. — CrazyEights

I am in......

Although it's not technically a real car, "Shoe Box" is approved for entry since it very much looks like a 50s era American car.

  • I think it’s totally cool and if course it should be included because it was heavily modified in the 50s by car customizers but I think the shoeboxes technically a 49 Ford Ford — GoldenOwl
  • Shoeboxes are completely a real car. Every cop car in the early 50s was made from a '49 Shoebox Ford. — GenX_VintageRacing

Sounds like fun. I've got an old '55 Chevy that I might be able to put in.
